He "PRODUCES" the song. :troll:
i mean thats what producing is.. that's literally what PRODUCING is in music.. the guy that joins all the pieces together.

its not DRE's fault rap confused beat maker with producer.. the biggest name we used to know as producers where DRE, DIDDY, JD and some RnB cats.. but the moment they the source threw in DJ premier in the mix.. the term got lost into meaning BEAT MAKER....

Dre definitely produced those album... but even chronic 2001 the beats where made by i believe Hittman mostly..Dre was the producer.

I thought Scott Storch was doing most of that?

If y'all don't think Dre should still be credit as a producer then ask yourself could anyone else have came up with The Chronic and if so why didn't they? Or where are all the other albums similar in caliber?

Compare that to all the "producers" today whose "beats" you can hardly distinguish from another.

Yeah I think he played the keys for it...

But all and all.. producer.. is not the beat maker... like a milk producer does not lactate...cow does...but guess who gets the credits for selling u that milk (this is so pause worthy)

Yeah I know the difference between beat maker and producer. A lot of us call out Dre and troll him because him and media wanted everyone to believe that he made beats, which he didn't

Yep. Generally a producer and composer are separate positions in the process. It's some new school shyt to say it's the same across the board.

What's fukked up is... this dude came up with dope ass basslines, brought in George Clinton, The Dramatics, brought in many other talented Detroit musicians to bring that "Funk" and he didn't get any credit on Snoop Dogg's "Doggystyle" album.... his name is nowhere on the the album. shyt's fukked up.

That's the music industry for ya. Why you think a lot of musician/rappers go into film? Because a lot of the fine print regarding $$$ is already dried ink on paper before a day of filming even begins.

The music industry is ass-backwards, many agreements are done on a handshake, with the implication that the paperwork will be handled later down the road....and we all know how that usually ends.

How many producers hand craft baselines that aren't played by musicians or sampled from records?

Where else to baselines come from unless the producer also plays instruments ?

:what: MOST PRODUCERS CREATE THEIR OWN BASSLINES.

IF YOURE SAMPLING A TRACK
THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS ADD YOUR OWN BASSLINE TO THE TRACK
ALONG WITH THE DRUMS.

YOU CAN PLAY BASS LINES OUT ON YOUR MIDI PLAYER
OR BEAT MACHINE.

These dudes were getting RAPED back in the day :damn:

Yeah... yall think the rap game is bad... talk to some of them oldschool r&b cats. Them dudes was singing, writing songs, playing instruments and performing every night and wasn't getting paid shyt.

Tony Green said that Dr Dre was paying him $700.00 a week to come up with basslines in 1993... that's like getting paid $1,150.00 a week in 2016. That's some good money. That's probably why at the time he was like "fukk credits... I wanna get PAID!"

Let me ask you guys this...

If Dr Dre said he'll pay you $1,200 a week to come up with "Drum Patterns" for songs but you will get zero credit, no publishing, no points... nothing. Would you do it?

i said put soul in it... meaning how he plays it is not a computer sound but rather the intensity of his strums to input attitude into the sound..

live bass is better than computer bass if you ask me.. until your doing a keyboard beat where you want it to sound computer'ish.
