In one bold move that album:

-Made the west coast relevant again
I'm sorry but i'm not sorry: outside of E-40 and ice cube the west was riding on fumes from the time pac died to that albums' release

-Resurrected Snoop's mainstream career
yes, his No Limit career sold albums but his appearance on Still Dre and verse on The Next episode made him Top tier relevant again

-Made eminem legit
HIs verse on Forgot About Dre is still crazy and made him REAL popular, more than his first album easily. Even on still dre the "eminem, triple platinum sellin 100 a week" or whatever whith his appearance in the still dre video made him official

-Kickstarted the ho-hum careers of Xzibit and Devin the dude
Both of them were niche artists with a tiny following. Xzibit would go on to go platinum and more just because of his verses on what's the difference and other tracks.

-Reminded you NATE DOGG is GOAT status
Both his verses on Next episode and AMAZING vocals on Xxplosive made him a certified, made man goat status legend

-Made you second guess Kurupt's career
dude was pretty much the only EMBARASSMENT on the album and it totally derailed his career

-Made SUGE KNIGHT LESS REVELVANT
It was clear that his old employees were ALL going to stand tall outside of DR

-Confirmed Dr. Dre's production is GOAT
put a LOT of guys like timbaland and others who were getting major cred, on notice.

-Got people interested in the following albums:
X-zibit: Restless, Marshall Mathers LP, The Eastsidaz, No limit top dogg, music & me, the eventual 2013 album, and others, selling MILLIONS of records.

what else had the DIRECT IMPACT as that?

not to say that it wasn't important but uh the first chronic had a far greater and more important impact than chronic 2001

chronic 2001 was a album that dr. dre needed to make because a lot of people thought he wasn't capable of makin' another successful album after; 1. he left death row records, and 2. after he released both the dr. dre presents the aftermath album and those albums didn't pan out the way everyone expected. it was the album where he needed to prove himself as an artist and producer. but it wasn't the first time he had to prove himself because nothin' was promised after he left ruthless records. a lot of executives doubted the first chronic because it didn't sound like a traditional hip hop album bein' that it had live instruments etc

while chronic 2001 was an important album mostly for dr. dre's legacy and most of everyone involved with the album it doesn't compare to the significance of the chronic. the chronic had a vibe, influence and movement unlike any other album in hip hop. after the chronic dropped a lot changed; slang, clothes, sound in hip hop etc. although big hutch of above the law created g funk, everybody and they mama rode off on that chronic influence that dre made popular. you had vets like mc lyte makin' records like ruff neck that sound chronic influenced from kriss kross/da brat to outkast and biggie with big poppa. even ll cool j flipped the script with that how i'm comin' single back in 93'. the chronic took hip hop over in a major way

ehhhhhh. I get ur opinion but where I was at when it dropped really didnt change much...it didnt make me check those artists. It didnt make me cosign em. If anything it at least proved Scotty had skills...
