The Affordable Care Act will do a lot more harm then good in this country, specifically for the poorer (IE black) people of America.
A federal mandate is more like economic slavery (mandate = force), but not race-based slavery like we had in America.
It is about control. The person who wrote ACA is Liz Fowler the VP of WellPoint, the 2nd largest healthcare provider in America. You know it's bad when the lobbyist write the actual laws in America. They more or less control the market now through the artificial exchanges the ACA created.
Dr. Ben Carson is a supporter of the Health Savings model, which has been implemented in Singapore. Singapore happens to be in the top 3 countries that provide the best healthcare in the world, #1 is Hong Kong which is considered the friendliest free-market capitalist society in the world, and #3 is Japan.
People are pissed because Dr. Ben Carson is on Fox News, but if MSNBC is so progressive, then why didn't they offer him a contract? I guess supporting a top rated health care model over a health care model created by the big HMOs is.... progressive?
It's economic slavery, especially for those who are now paying in the 25% bracket or higher.
America was founded as a republic. There was no 16th amendment for 124 years until a certain bank came on the scene.
Dr. Ben Carson didn't go on Fox News for approval, he went on it because the health care model he supports wasn't in the best interest of big HMOs. I loved that he sonned Obama at that dinner they had on TV. Besides, what does Obama know about running a medical practice or the costs associated with it, he's a lawyer not a doctor.
Besides, ACA was written by a VP of the 2nd biggest HMO. It's going to be awful because health services will be rationed for poor people on the lower tiered plans (e.g.: bronze plan). It's not even going to be affordable because healthy people will be forced to subsidize the costs of bringing in hundreds of thousands of people with pre-existing conditions.
That pretty much sums up federal gov't spending in the last 13 years.
It's cruel if you force people into doing anything against their will.

I'm for single payer... so I'm biased.
However, I don't think Hitlers first speeches were cruel, or the way Regan worded the drug wars and trickle down economics was soo horrible.

You can only do that if u ignore some facts- like penalties. Those mandates, especially the ones on corporations and companies are considered Demonic by many social conservatives.
Especially Atheist are screwed because if u don't like it.... you could simply claim some random religion to avoid penalties. Penalties increase and by 2016 it could be over 2k for a family. Then shared 'responsibility' for people with more than 50 employees ... is considered controversial. You saw the thread a few days back on Social Responsibility.??... people aren't trying to hear that shyt.
In the framework of American history - healthcare policies like this are extreme as hell.

I'm all for this ACA - but we should know how this shyt goes by NOW. the slop is less choice and less freedom, not more.... never getting to single payer, just more BS options... leading to not only increase 'penalties' but justice system penalties that have nikka locked up on a revolving cycle of license suspensions and arrest - that only work towards the poor and minorities in the end.
