Dave likes AJ but has never been his BIGGEST fan. Case in point, the 2014 AJ/MiSu match that essentially everyone but Dave thought was the best match of that year. Also, only one AJ match ever getting 5 from him, the Unbreakable threeway. While stuff like AJ/Joe at Turning Point, AJ/Okada at Dominion, or AJ/Tana in the G1 last year falling short. He likes and respects his work, but he definitely doesn’t stan him on the level he does louder characters like Tana, Okada, and now Kenny.

Dave does not like aj because aj elevated workrate in america with Daniels and all the original review guys did not get that style at first.
then they were forced to lean back and later just fell into suit.

I was the only dude originally praising the Daniels aj series.
when originally Keith and Meltzer were whatever on aj.
Since, they did not jump on the bandwagon at the beginning.
You will keep hearing this blasphemy about aj from Meltzer and keith.
Which is why I posted the we won the war thread when aj solidified being the goat.

AJ elevated njpw wholeheartedly period.

Meltzer just likes to slight it cause him and Keith were not feeling the whole internet indy rising origanally at all.

Also, omega was not ever focused on aj's level originally and if he did not become the cleaner would never have ramped.
Him and chris hero were neck and neck for indy fukk ups originally, too.

Never seen a one on one Omega match, but he looks sort of goofy so I have my doubts.

Saw a multi man thingy in ROH in the past year, and nothing in match was special. It was a crowd pleasing spotfest, with no big spots, so as a non-roh fan, it was forgettable.

Before the cleaner gimmick, omega was that goofie of all the indy's.
Yet his ramp has removed all that angst and wack shyt he used to do.
That he can be the guy in the e.
Since the bc sharked clowned and worked the clique into being on their dikks and won the war.
by forcing the clique into the bullet club assimilatiom.

Bullet club is the greatest coup attempt in wrasslin history and again:

I don't watch enough jap shyt to really have an opinion but one of my New Years resolutions is to watch some more Kenny Omega matches

Hard to imagine anyone being better than AJ at this point though

At this point, omega is Tully to aj's ric flair right now.
You know rick is your guy, but Tully is your guy too and they are bad guys and you don't give a fukk. Unless they are opposite magnum or duhtay tied in scary ass fishing line rope.

The thing with omega, is that he is drawing American eyes to njpw WHO NEVER watched the product before. Him as champ, an American with growing fluency in Japanese could be a huge thing for them if Gedo had that goal. He could be a world star if they continued to support him.

Omega isn't drawing eyes to Japan, NJPW is drawing eyes to NJPW.

There has been a consistent growing interest in that company for the past few years, and NJPWorld AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamure, Finn, Okada, Tanahasi and otthers paved that way

Njpw missed out not having omega in order to be the champion period.

Very curious how the poll would have been had it been made a year later. Omega balled out in Japan after Styles left (best thing to happen to Omega's career), and his performances are even more impressive in hindsight when you factor in his battle with Vertigo started in 2017.

His prime consisted of a Montreal Screwjob ripoff, dropping the belt to RVD a month after RVD debuted, the Hogan years, Claire Lynch, ripping off the Sting "who's side is he on angle" with Aces and Eights, and ripping off the CM Punk summer of Punk 2011 angle. Japan/Bullet Club did wonders to rehab Styles' image after years of dealing with the TNA stink.

aj is still better than kenny. jericho exposed all of njpw as inferior to just jericho. that the luster of njpw wore off after jericho crushed njpw.

As of 2023 I'll say that they're still better wrestlers than Reigns, but Reigns has had a run that neither one can ever top. A 2yr run with the championship and you never lost the audience is unheard of in today's wrestling. Fans want new champions every 2 months now.

Aj Styles had an entire company on his back at one point (TNA) and helped make it relevant. I still go back and watch his matches from that era. Kenny doesn’t compare no matter how many 7 star ratings he gets.
