i agree in general that tipping culture is ridiculous, but it also is a service to have your food delivered to you.

if you're struggling so badly that you can't tip your delivery man at all, then you should go get your food your damn self imo.
Maybe that person is struggling & delivering is less than using gas.

Point is companies allowing the customer to take the PR hit for lowballing their own employees is :scust:

Its frustrating because these companies can definitely pay more. Why do people pick and chose when they want to present "data" to support a position, then go off of pure emotions in other situations? I posted above that the average delivery app set up cost is $10-70k depending on the features of the app. The delivery company has 0 cars and 0 cost for rent for a brick and mortar.. This is how the fees break down for "delivery" after the start up costs.

"How much does DoorDash charge in fees? Unlike its competitors, DoorDash charges a flat service fee of 15% of your bill. Like Uber Eats and GrubHub, DoorDash also charges a delivery fee set by restaurants and a service fee that goes to the app in addition to the cost of your food".

So doordash charge a 15% service fee for all orders.. If it costs at max $70k to start a delivery app, and you charge a 15% flat fee for every order, you can possibly knock out that $70k in a few months.. So after they've knocked out the $70k for the start up, that 15% fee is profit from that point forward. How much staff do you need to run a app? All this money and they're probably paying lazy mfers a salary to do nothing behind the scenes, versus paying the people who make your operation what it is.

Then it says the f*cking restaurants charges a f*cking fee for the food they didn't have to deliver, for a car they don't own as well. And that service fee is charged in addition to the 15% flat rate for ALL orders..

With all this information about how the restaurants AND the delivery app is f*cking over the driver, why are people b*tching about the customer when they already paid all these fees? Probably because its easier to stand up to the customer than it is the actual people who is f*cking the drivers over.

People need to learn how to place all that energy in the right places then sh*t will change.

Those apps all charge a delivery fee in addition to the tip, unless you get the premium upgrade. The delivery fee doesn't go to the driver
Drivers don’t get the delivery fee that goes to the company…. These companies making money off that delivery fee.. most folk think it the actual tip and it’s not…

They should get rid of the tip option and just charge a set delivery fee of $10 and just split that portion with the driver… so the company getting $5 and driver gets $5 and call it a day

That could work, but if I'm having something delivered from far away, I would like the option to tip more. Even if the place is real close, I'ma still tip $4-5.

But delivery fees have gone up too. Was looking at pizza hut a couple weeks ago and they got a $3.99 fee where I live. I looked it up on Uber Eats and zero delivery fee. I want to support the restaurants, but I'm obviously gonna choose the no fee. Shooting themselves in the foot being greedy

If people decided to go pick up their food these drivers Would be done. I tried DoorDash once but never again. If I just don’t feel like going out I’ll cook.

If you can't tip your UE/DD driver then don't order it. Their job is to simply deliver your food. Yeah, exceptions happen but for the most part my orders are always correct; I'll edit tip if items are missing but that's about it. But now seeing more and more videos of these drivers complaining about the tip or the amount of a tip and I don't wanna deal with that so I haven't really been ordering.

There are services fees attached to these orders. I’m already paying in for the delivery person to receive a wage every time I order.

If you’re struggling so badly that you can’t sustain without a 15% tip, you should either talk to your employer or get another job!
