Nope.
It added too many systems which ruined the flow of the combat which was the original game's strength.
There was a beautiful fluidity to the action in the prior game. Eternal tried to force the player into playing the game a certain way and having to juggle all the different systems took the fun away from the combat.
Just a perfect example of a sequel trying to do too much.
You could say the 1st one did the same in much more limited ways, and I loved 2016. Eternal is 2016 on steroids, faster, bigger, and more varied. 2016 feels cramped in comparison. The additional mechanics from the dash, to the grappling hook, to the flamethrower all added depth to the well paced but generic combat of 2016. The only thing that you could say shoehorned you into a playstyle was the Marauder, and they are cake once you know how to handle them.
Oh yeah, the skillcap is significantly higher in DE. Just watch ZeroMasters videos of him taking on the World Spear on Ultra Nightmare.
