Win what? The reason they arent reigning Superbowl champions is because Purdy was average in the SBTeam is good enough to win even if Purdy is average.

Of course, but you cant really bank on that. Esp in this era. Also, it is so opponent dependant. Dilfer was below average in SB 35, but he faced Kerry Collins and the NYG. Would that same performance cut it vs the GSOT and Kurt Warner? The previous year or the following year?We have seen on a few occasions where teams have won the SB with average QB play. Just doesn’t happen often.
eh, Brock played well enough to win that Superbowl, when you go to overtime you're playing with coin flip (literally) margins. He played as well as Stafford in the Rams-Bengals SB, Brady in the Pats-Rams SB, Peyton in the Broncos-Panthers SB. Game of inches.Win what? Too many missed opportunites. You cant he that bad on third down and expect to win. He did not play as good as Stafford. Stafford was money on third down, which made up for his INT's. He cashed in with three td passes. Brock couldnt figure out a slot CB blitz that was constantly sent. He hits Ayuik on the last slot blitz, you guys win the SB.eh, Brock played well enough to win that Superbowl, when you go to overtime you're playing with coin flip (literally) margins. Just on principle if a game goes to overtime and the QB has thrown 0 ints with an 89 passer rating, he played well enough to win the game. I agree that if that slot blitz play was converted we probably win, but there are a bunch of other plays we probably win on. Stafford turned the ball over twice and still won, Brady threw 0 TDs and 1 INT and still won, Manning threw 0 TDs and 1 INT and took 5 sacks and still won.Too many missed opportunites. Passer rating is a flawed stat. It doesnt account for situatuonal football and it favors td/int ratio, too much. Those repeated drives where they went 3 and out, was just the respite that a desperate KC team, needed. An 89 passer rating in a post 2011 NFL, is above average, but not remarkable. Just as Phillips had Brady on shackles, Spags knew how to make Kyle's offense pedestrian. He's been doing it for 5 years with different QBs we've had.Passer rating is a flawed stat. Statford clearly played better than Brock. No question. He made remarkable throws and powered a comeback. You keep harping on his two ints, yet you ignore his 3 td passes. Brady? He didnt play well. His nemesis(Wade Phillips) had him in shackles for the most part. Peyton Manning had a deterioriating neck and couldnt feel his fingers and was at the end of his road, obviously.
Yes, it was an epic OT game, but the point is, it shouldnt have been in overtime with the way SF was holding, prior to the muffed punt. If Brock plays his normal game, that is a decisive victory for SF. Like 34-17.
I can agree with all those points..thats why its such a tough loss to take. Their is no one definitive play, player or call to blame, but I think the muffer punt is overall the biggest play. It changed .everything. Gave KC a lifeline when they were drowning. You could literally change one of about a possible 10 plays, and its a different outcome.Just as Phillips had Brady on shackles, Spags knew how to make Kyle's offense pedestrian. Yes, that slot blitz was Brock's worst mistake in the game but I find it really useless to focus on Brock when pretty much every big playmaker we have made a dumb ass mistake as well that costs us drives and points, including Trent.
Dre Greenlaw injury and ST fumble are likely #1 and #2 reasons for the L in my bookWin what? The reason they arent reigning Superbowl champions is because Purdy was average in the SB
I agree that it was a decen, winnable performance. But you must agree, that if he plays like MVP candidate, Brock Purdy, they win, comfortably. Its so many different reasons why yall lost that game. We can blame it on the CMac fumble, muffed punt, that horrible stretch in the 3rd with three straight 3 and outs, being atrocious on third down in general, the Greenlaw injury, the muffed punt, getting 6 yards on 1st down on their last drive of regulation, then refusing to run it again, Nick Bosa having no football IQ and overreacting to every ball fake, lack of aggression. You cant settle for a FG on the last drive of regulation, or the 1st possession in OT, missing your best WR on a blitz, hot route.Dre Greenlaw injury and ST fumble are likely #1 and #2 reasons for the L in my book
We hung the most passing yards on them this year and didnt turn the ball over passing thats an OK/decent performance against an elite D
