We're African were not "Black".

Breh "Black" is more offensive than the n-word IMO.

There was a scene in Malcolm X where he was looking up the definitions for black and white. He concluded a white person must have written this. But he was wrong. Those definitions and perceptions of black and white have always been that. The thing is, cacs decided to call themselves White and call us Black. Cacs ain't white and we're not black. They're European (or as specific as they wanna be because they actually have the luxury of knowing their precise heritage) and we're African.

Only terms I accept are "African", "African-American", brotha/sista", "breh/brehette", or "nikka" when I'm on my ignant ish. :myman:

It's crazy how a lot of black folk only believe there decent is from Africa. There were black civilizations of the Americas in 1492 when Columbus got here, it's documented. There were indigenous blacks of this land long before the Europeans got here. The Indians of the Americas were black not the bow w arrow bullshyt that we've been taught for centuries. Not gonna go into no spill but it's amazing what you can find when you read.

Remarks like “we respect our African heritage, but that term is not really us,” and “Africa was a long time ago, Are we always going to be tethered to Africa? Spiritually I’m American. When the war starts, I’m fighting for America.” as said by Jesse Washington in an article regarding the terms, are becoming the norm.

Both terms are offensive, breh. I'm sure every language has a term for "black", English just happens to be my first language so "black" resonates more with me than say "noir" or "schwarz". :yeshrug:

Again there IS NO "identity crisis." The only problem is that people confuse an ethnic term like "African-American" with a racial term like "black."

African-Americans are biologically/genetically African but culturally they are NOT but instead culturally creolized like most in the diaspora and thus their own ethnicity.

ONLY black people talk like this. NOBODY, NO other ethnic group talks like this.

I've heard yt people time and time again acknowledge their Irish, Italian, Scottish, English, German, Dutch, Polish, etc heritage. If you've traveled and truly been exposed to other cultures in America you see these people still practicing many aspects of their culture.

ONLY black people have show shame(unapologetic shame) for their heritage.

The declaration of independence was a long time ago also, but nobody's saying they can't relate to that. YET DNA which is more tangible than ideals written on a paper they can't relate to.

I've learned that human beings will rationalize anything to do what they TRULY want, even if they're wrong
Because no "other ethnic group" was forced into chattel slavery, brought to the United States, had their cultural heritage and religion washed away, and forced into citizenship into what soon became the most powerful country in the world.
All those (White) groups you named all immigrated here on purpose.

I'm not African, and if I were I wouldn't refer to myself as that. Africa is the name of a continent. Not the people.

The same way I'm not American. America is the continent. I'm not from the whole continent.

I am a Californian who has roots from all over the continent of America, most likely the continent of Africa, and perhaps some countries in the Caribbean and the continent of Asia.

But by nationality I am Californian, specifically from the township of National City, located in the city of San Diego. Now my physical features are a reflection of the ethnic groups that make up my ancestry. I don't know who those people are. I will never know. But my descendants shall.
