They could’ve had the 4 best pitchers set to play in the World Series, but decided to cheap out and not part with a few players who weren’t even on the postseason roster. George on the other hand, told managers and executives straight up make certain moves or they’re fired right on the spot. The only title cashman has brought the team in the last 19 years came off him getting to spend half a billion in free agent deals the previous winter. Without the Yankees payroll that these guys aren’t even that willing to take advantage of, they’d resemble the orioles or the royals.
