Donald Trump: No more US protection for Canada until it becomes our 51st state. There’s Russian ships out there.. and Chinese ships.. many ships..

I'm a Canadian.

The mentality used to be that he's bluffing and just trying to use these threats to renegotiate free trade but as time passes, the mentality over here is becoming more and more to assume he's serious. And if he's serious, then i guess it's up on both sides. On one hand Canadians feel like a lot of the people are anti trump so we don't hate Americans. On the other hand the majority of y'all voted for him so i guess he still represents the people.

Personally, i think he's kinda right in some ways. It's true that Canada doesn't meet it's 2% contributions for NATO. He's also right that we lean on the USA for security. Is it fair or not, it's hard to say. I'm guessing there are geopolitical reasons as to why having a safe neighboring country safe and stable maybe helps make the USA safer overall. I won't even pretend like i understand these things though. I always assumed it was a win-win but maybe i was wrong all along.

Either way i guess it's time for us to hold our own nuts. It is what it is. Might even be positive for Canada in a sense because it's like a wakeup call we may have needed. Time to stop being naive.

One thing I'll say, whatever the world looks like in 4 years, the USA will be VERY isolated...

In a sane world, the US would just cut its military spending in half and spend that money on citizens instead forcing other countries to spend 2% of their GDP buying American weapons of war.

Trump, along with Putin and Xi represent a new world order as outlined by "thinkers" like Alexander Dugin, Putins supposed influence and thinker, that the order of the world should be reshaped in simple terms into three spheres. China sphere of influence is Asia, Russia's Europe, and America is cut off from all European affairs and influence and refocuses on North America and possibly south America affairs.

This falls in line with this world view and those on the far right here believe in it too. Dugins thoughts have had a lot of influence on our far-right here and they seemed determined to follow his ideas. This means that Canada and Mexico and parts of South America are more susceptible to US imperial desires more than before.

Dugin's beliefs are outlined in his book The Foundation of geopolitics. He is a self-described fascist but believes his fascism is a new version that is distinct from the fascism of WW2 era followed by the Italians, Spanish, and Germans.

I think everyone can agree that he is more transactional and is trying to wipe his hands of Ukraine to make it “Europe’s Problem”

However i dont think the “Sphere of influence” aspect will last very long. Countries arent just going to lie down and accept it. A lot of countries will start to forge their own alliances and defense agreements to protect themselves from other big countries. The world will become more violent and economies will suffer because of it.

Trumps golden age will lead us straight to the 1800s again.

@Uitomy do you believe past American Presidents wish they could have had as much power as Trump and be a spiritual successor of Julius Caesar?
I feel like a few of them probably have had it in some shape or form depending on their affiliations, like anyone in skull and bones probably had a lot of internal influence and weight (how else you get a father son presidency almost back to back)

If you really wanna take it there, I wouldn't be surprised if some of them were into magic (esp the early presidents) and probably looked at their service as their contract for something else. That's my tinfoil hat theory though.

The fact people aren't concerned about this goes to show how uneducated they are
Most if not all other countries know, we don't because we're filled with a bunch of uneducated retards.

And if they're people here who know about it then those goof troops have the personality of Muscle Man from Regular Show

does canada have a military?
Yes we do. No it's not as big, or technically advanced as America's. Our special ops soliders are pretty fukking good, and our snipers are top notch. We used to be the most rated motherfukkers on the battlefield until nukes were dropped. If you read the non American biased WW1 and WW2 stories, Canadians were the most effective, and the most brutal soldiers. In trench warfare we were savages who often took over enemy trenches in the dark with melee weapons so we weren't heard murdering op soldiers. The Geneva conventions were created because Canadians give zero fukks when at war. Just murder anything moving and keep it going. We are also adapt in any weather. Any weather. So when Russians and America's freeze, Canadian soldiers are doing fine.

they know better. theyre 'fixing' that right now. we will have midterms and 2028 elections but they will be compromised to get the results they want.

The FEC is an independent regulatory agency created to administer and enforce campaign finance laws. Commissioners are appointed by the president and are confirmed by the Senate to serve in staggered six-year terms. No political party is allowed to be represented by more than three of the six seats on the FEC.

Trump is just a classless parvenu who behaves like a bully. Strong with people he perceives as weaker than him, but weak with people he perceives as stronger than him.

He got all the smoke for allied countries such as Canada, Mexico and the EU but none of it towards actual enemy countries of the USA like Russia and China. He was all smiles with Putin. Didn’t say anything about Xi Jinping. And he welcomed nefarious authoritarians like Modi and Israel’s Netanyahu with open arms.

He was all along a Russian sponsored agent used as a Trojan horse by Russia to destroy the United States from inside and outside, sow discord in the West among allied nations of America, and turn every country on earth against the USA. A traitor within the US government, financially corrupted by Musk and Putin.

The whole planet appears to be headed towards a technocratic oligarchy, regardless of what happens with various world leaders. In Alien and Blade Runner, Ridley Scott predicted that corporations will run the world of the future. I think whatever happens in the next few years as far as conflicts and realignments go, will be the last hurrah for nation states. Soon the power is going to shift away from politicians and borders and onto tech billionaires and their hired butt pirates. You can already see glimpses of this.

Trump feeds the media red herrings while extracting wealth and power for his family and wealth class. You can't trust that he'll do anything that he says, but it would also be foolish to ignore it.

If he actually goes through with any of these geopolitical policies, I don't think they will be positive for the world, much less for the US who constantly overestimate their importance, ironically due to the post WW2 order that those policies would functionally remove.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this does happen. By the way, I thought PM Trudeau was resigning?
By the way it’s surprising how many countries rely on the US. I wonder why they can’t be self sufficient?

A foreign agent as the US President. We had a good run!
I truly think he is a Soviet asset. I am not sure what kompromat they have on him, but he is literally mirroring all the actions of old KGB assets.

The longest cultivation and most important asset they have ever had. There is no way his weakening of focus towards the Soviets is anything but maliciously covert.
