Trump is amoral to the core and a generally bad person. This requires everyone - opponents, the media, etc - to ignore that and focus on whatever he's doing that particular day. If he can distract people from his nature, he can keep up the facade. So this ad crushes him because if anyone looks this shyt up they'll realize it's true. At which point you decide whether you're in the Trump cult or not.

It's always way easier for right-wing politicians to get elected because they cater to the worst in humans : hatred, xenophobia, supremacism, you name it. All of these right-wingers have built their careers on that. So it doesn't matter if they dont perform well in the economy, if they lie, if they steal, if they insult other, etc as long as they stay consistent in selling hatred. That's what the vast majority of their voters want to hear from them. Right-wing politicians literally don't even have to do anything right, even when elected they can blame anything that goes wrong on "the left/the elite/the libruls/the Muslims/Migrants" etc and their voters will eat it up.
