Never thought of it like that. Theyre still not talking about socialism, though. If you have to change the core foundations of an ideology to adopt it...then youre not really adopting it.

Add the fact that many 50+ Americans (who are the most active voters) grew up during a time when they were doing nuclear attack drills in elementary school because of "socialism"...you're just never going to win enough of them over. I think Americans just aren't that educated and As a result use buzzwords despite what they mean.

I do it sometimes, but my pet peeve on this site is progressives and the tangibles crowd referring to neoliberalism as something completely at odds with what it is.
