All they need to do is move Westbrook for some decent players and they are back in contention.

Trade THT as well.

The issue with that is sacrificing the future just to unload Russ. If you told me Bron was staying beyond 2023, AD was going to stay healthy, and there was a plan moving forward after Bron then it’s cool.

Sure, something like Brogdan/Hield might work or we might be using the last bit of good money we have to get rid of bad money. That’s the anxiety we have as Laker fans. Sure, we’d love to maximize the time we have left with Bron but we also want a future to look forward to. It’s especially risky considering Bron’s history of ghosting franchises after he’s depleted it’s resources.

I keep telling y’all and I’ll say it again, everything else is irrelevant if AD stays injured. And when he’s magically healthy, he looks like a shell of himself with his broken jumper. That AD trade set us back more than that Russ trade. Well that depends on how much stock you put in that bubble ring. But that AD trade cost us BI + Darius Garland and like 3 or 4 more draft picks. But then again our old coaching staff didn’t know how to develop young talent so who knows what those picks would turn out to be.

It’s a compounded issue. We couldn’t do our young talent justice so we couldn’t keep them. Where we messed up was AD not signing with us outright so we could preserve some of our young talent and depth.

The moment we got Bron we gave up on our youth movement. But you’re right, our troubles really lie in AD being an absolute disappointment. He’s incredibly lucky that Russ had a nuclear meltdown of a season otherwise he’d be catching way more heat.

Bron could be elite again, Russ could figure it out, and the role players could be lights out on offense/defense but it means nothin if AD is still a bytch. :ehh:

I am anti trading any more assets unless AD can prove to play a healthy season.

Our FO has just done a poor job. Between Magic letting Randle walk for free, giving up Zubac, TB, etc up for nothing. Then trading assets for one year rentals. Brook Lopez should have been a Laker but they let him go, they gave up a pick for Dennis and then let him walk, they gave up another pick for Russ lol.

They are finally making a stand and realize what a poor job they have done. I am glad they see it. You trade picks to ship Westbrook out and AD gets his annual injury, you might as well stop watching Lakers till 2030

I think if they put a good cast around him it makes the most sense for Bron to stay 2 more years. The Westbrook trade really destroyed the team. I went back and watched the game were Bron dropped 50 against the Warriors and the supporting cast was awful. None of those dudes deserved big minutes on a team. Reaves, Bradley, THT, and Westbrook was the guard rotation :scusthov:

Trade some of these dudes and get some 2 way players and we are back in business.

They have picks before then they just can’t trade them because of the Stephen rule. I think there next 1st is 2025

imagine if we could develop talent, we'd only have to trade BI + a role player and a pick. They're so good at drafting young players too so the fact that we don't have any picks and they just throw picks away is frustrating.

Bron
AD (by default)
Reaves
Monk (wishful thinking)
Stanley Johnson
Wenyen Gabriel
Nunn (still have hope for him and he's opting in)

are the only players who should be a lock to stay

there's a reason why this team looked bearable to watch when the young guys played because they actually gave effort. need to start developing a culture of accountability and effort.

Smh this new multi quote system is trash.

But anyways, I’m with @CantStop and @ALonelyDad that’s enough on the trading young talent bullshyt.

No disagreements that the supporting cast isn’t all that hot but a few issues I have is that we’re putting our future on the line on the off chance that we can squeeze one more title run out of Bron and AD. I personally don’t believe that duo had a championship in the and it’s mainly because of AD.

It’s a difficult position to be in, but I don’t feel good about sacrificing the tiny bit of future we have left on a squad that probably won’t finish the job. Not to mention, Bron has to assure the team that he’s staying beyond this season if we gon invest all that.

It would be great if we could get more guys that actually give a fukk. Like you said, we’re really good at finding good young players especially hidden gems. It would be great to get more picks somehow.

The frustrating part is that we had a team already and we just needed to make some tiny tweaks. I don’t think we’ll get that dynamic back during Bron’s time even with a trade. That’s what makes a trade hard to fathom. We’ve got no youth to get behind, there’s really nothing likeable about this team. All I want is for the Lakers is to do for LeBron what we couldn’t do for Kobe.

Even if they do bring Westbrook back they still need to find a starting SG, Defense forward, and a Stretch 5. So they are going to have to try to make some kinds of trades unless they can find some gems in the second round.

Yeah I agree with this list totally. Even though I don't think Reaves or Stanley are starting calibre , they can still be decent rotational pieces.

We definitely need all of that. This is a supreme litmus test for Rob and the whole front office. How creative can they get with filling these holes without putting us in a deeper hole?

As of now they’re rotational players but I think they can develop into quality role players. Caruso started out as a joke but ended up becoming a guy. I think those two can do the same.
