And he's right, DR is part of an island, that might not be the name of the island but it's still part of an island. So if you live in the DR then you are in fact living on an island.

It's like saying that living in Honolulu isn't living on an island because the actual island its located is called Oahu and Honolulu isnt surrounded by water.
