yea but see what u said. even tho u dark skinned(im assuming) they was cool with u UNTIL they found out u haitian. so how would that make it a racial thing? there is definitely a lot of anti-hatian feelings in DR i would never deny it but to say its totally based on race is wrong. if haiti was full of poor asians and everything else was the same dominicans would still be treating them like that. and if haiti was a rich country with oil money or something ya wouldnt be able to get the dominicans out of haiti and we would be the ones getting deported. its not purely a skin color thing.
I can only account for my experiences. I do however hear a lot of black people complain about racism they encountered in DR. I'll let them tell it. And the fact that you have Dominicans dressing up in KKK outfits isnt helping either. From what I hear Dominican blacks are somewhat treated as second class citizens there. I'm not crying about that. Racism is everywhere. There's even some racism in Haiti despit the country being 95% black
My job once sent me to Costa Rica for over 8 months and i met a fine ass black chick there who is Costa Rican and she told me about a lot of the racist stuff that happens there. :manny:

The U.S. ....specifically, the AA community loves to talk about how Haitians rights being violated in DR etc...why don't you march and propose AMNESTY to Haitians so that they can come to the U.S. that way you can kumbaya along with them and end their suffering? :ohhh:

As far as the underlined, those people were probably not AA. Most likely 2ndgen caribbeans/haitians:beli:

And as far as the bolded. Hasn't AA's been doing that for the entire Diaspora for like the past sixty years:dahell:

It's a tool of hate, I'll agree.

But Dominicans don't hate Haitians because of their race. Chechs don't have Slovs because they're white. Sunnis don't hate Shias because they're brown. Etc...

Strawman argument.

We're talking about a group of people (with 70-80% of them from black ancestry) refusing to acknowledge that they're black while treating another group of blacks as second-class citizens with race as a major factor in doing so.

How else do you explain this...

???

The Haitian/DR beef isn't entirely about race but it is a MAJOR factor. If it was merely about social identity, why do dark-skinned Dominican-born individuals still face discrimination from light-skinned Dominicans?

"The Haitian occupation of Santo Domingo (1822-1844), although passively accepted by most of the population (and even celebrated by lower-class groups), was strongly rejected by the elites, who lost their privileges and administrative jobs to the occupation armies. Dominican elites further resented being at the mercy of individuals whom they considered inferior because of their skin color and social status."

Dominicans are still fuming over the fact nikkas beat up on Spain and ruled over the DR for a time. They're still aggrieved they had to call so-called inferior nikkas by names like "sir" and "lord".

This doesn't surprise me.....
Dominicans gotta be the c00niest bunch of c00ns that ever c00ned...(pause)

I've been to the DR a couple times.

First two times, i was like :blessed: at all these beautiful BLACK women that speak Spanish.

I talked to a few chicas out there that were bartending at the resort i was staying at.

I'm trying to work on my Spanish, so i hit them with the typical chit-chat.

Then I ask 'em:
"Tu eres Morena, verdad?" :steviej:

Them two heauxs looked at each other, then back at me on some

ive never seen a dark skinned dominican get treated worse than a light skinned one. its rare to see that because every dominican has literally every shade in the fam. where im from its about class and every poor person gets treated like shyt despite skin color.

i dont think anybody denies that there is some colorism and race issues in DR just like anywhere else. our problem is that we get singled out for it and generalized when not every dominican is like that. u wouldnt like people coming in here and starting monthly anti-haitian threads because of the handful of witch doctors and haitians chopping each other up for petty beefs.

Beanz, to be honest I don't know why so many Latinos come here. There just much too much bad blood between us and its growing. I don't think how foolish it is for mixed raced to an unabashed white supremacist in the context of the history of America. Idont think blacks and Dominicans will see eye to eye on this issue.

Dominicans are racist than a muhfukka. I went a Latino middle school I'm the south Bronx and got called 'cocolo' all the time by these two Dominicans named Michael and Elvis.
