This. I get that between eating McDonalds and flaming hot Cheetos from the corner store, a dollar store offering fruit veggies and meat might be a step up, but man the quality of that food can’t be that great being sold at rock bottom prices. Preservatives, sodium, fillers, pesticides, hormones...:picard:

But it’s a catch 22 I guess.

I also don’t trust where certain name brand stuff is being made or sourced from when they sell a $15 box of tide for $5...people have concerns about counterfeit items from amazon, I’m sure these items at dollar stores might be counterfeit or the formulations from some other countries with possibly lower regulations on what’s in it. Then again, our government does a shyt job of regulating our products as well :ld:
The thing is you are not going to get a 15 dollar box of tide for 5 dollars your gonna pay 15 or even more because sometimes our stuff is more expensive than Walmart lol. They moved away from actually having dollar/cheap stuff model and it's more about having the essential items people might buy like soap , toothpaste, washing powder, cookies, cakes , etc and having a location closer than the competition. They literally build family dollars and dollar generals right next to people houses around here

Ah, got it. I’ve read these stores are big in rural areas, so we don’t have them out here like that except for the few you’d find in a strip mall or commercial block in lower income neighborhoods...I forget that even with food deserts, things are still closer for city dwellers than out in rural areas where you might have to drive 30 minutes to Walmart

And to think; black people have aspirations to be predatory capitalist, just like this company...

:snoop:

If Democrats actually went to work after 8 years of a blue president, people would atleast take this serious...

My old hood has a Church's Chicken, Dollar General (or that other one that has a orange logo or both) and corner stores.

its actually more overstock from bigger stores, that they cant store due to how much they rotate in..

also.. as i said earlier.. getting up with the stock people about things that are "damaged" at even regular markets is where its really at.. "damaged" essentially is something that couldve fell off the truck unpacking, or hit the ground from the shelf and not so aesthetically pleasing.. as long as the food not damaged, youre gonna crumble the box, can, or whatever packaging it is..

hell.. i actually hit the dollar store for containers anyways, so it al makes sense in the end..

i dont think alot of folks have really been in a dollar store.. you can find some really good products in alot of them..

Shows you where the country is headed economically in the long-term.

It’s no mistake and you could see this coming about 5-10 years ago. It’s gotten so that the Dollar Tree is buying out all the Dollar Generals and consolidating.

Dollar Tree has bought Family Dollar. Dollar General is straight by itself, headquartered in Goodlettsville Tennessee. I used to deliver to Dollar General. They are everywhere you don't want to be.

Dollar Tree has taken over alotta spots that used to be Dollar General down here. I’m in Texas. We still have some Dollar General’s but you can see the Tree gaining market share.

Helluva thing. That’s where the jobs will be too more and more in the future. Work there and shop there.

One got built a block away from me right before the gentrification happened. It's kind of in a weird place now lol. The only time we really shop there is for foil trays, plastic cutlery, and holiday decorations.

i mainly shop at publix because it's on my exercise path in the evenings and it's a great store. sprouts, trader joe's and whole foods are a 5 min drive from my house. costco is 15-20 but i only need to go there once or twice a month. i never really use to go to whole foods like that but since amazon bought them they're always having some prime specials that i go to check out.

Thank God for Aldi:wow:

The economy is fukked, make every saving as possible brehs.

I don't even buy fast food, I make homemade burgers, oven pizzas, oven fries. I buy aldi deserts, chocolates, snacks for when females come to the crib.

People waste too much money eating out, save your bread & cook at home

By the time you drive to 3 different stores, find 3 different parking spots, stand in 3 different lines and waste gas...which cuts into any savings you think you had.

Might as well cut coupons & one stop at a major chain store - Mine is Publix. Publix even has impressive organic items. I still shop Whole Foods for specialty items though.

2 polar opposites, what a dumbass comparison

whole foods is actually more niche as well so naturally it'll be lower
