The charges is very weak and DOJ career people always thought, Weiss thought that himself
You have someone with zero points, no criminal history, who has admitted and taken responsibility for his addiction, paid his tax bill, didn't hurt anyone with the gun, or commit any crimes
and this is what they have after 5 years? If I were Hunter Biden, I would plead guilty on the first day, accept full responsibility, and watch the judge give me probation and home confinement for a week.
But, for these guys, it's about ego, politics, of course, and family honor. The recent supreme court ruling about guns. Someone like Abbe Lowell is down to take this all the way. Probably not what the Biden admin wants. They will probably fight this as hard they can. The easiest thing would just be to give them the 42 Dugg

How are you defining down playing? Because I think we need to draw a distinction between what the Republicans were claiming, what the democrats said, and what actually happened. Otherwise it’s a false equivalence.
The Republicans have been harping about the Biden crime family. How Joe Biden is corrupt, and how his direct undue influence got Hunter sweetheart deals w/ the Ukraine, etc. Someone even hacked/stole/ Leaked the contents of Hunter’s laptop. The big leak turned out to be Hunter’s drug issues and dikk picks.
In the last 5 years, Dems have said 1) Hunter isn’t president or a public figure or government official and 2) there’s no evidence of Joe Biden doing any of the corrupt shyt Republicans are accusing him of doing.
And we get to today’s indictment. Hunter got charged w/ lying on an ATF form about being a drug user while having a gun and not paying his taxes. None of those things have any thing to do w/ President Biden.
If you’re gonna say we’re down playing it, tell the whole story. A 5 year investigation into the corruption of Joe Biden and the crime family resulted in finding out Hunter Smokes crack and doesn’t pay his taxes. So 1) I’d say the Dems correctly saying there’s nothing here isn’t down playing it, so much as a factual statement and 2) that an investigation of this size only turning up this charge is a colossal failure on every level.
Or too put it differently, this is somehow a dumber out come than an investigation into a favorable land deal Clinton got resulting in Clinton being impeached for lying in a completely unrelated deposition.
