A film should be made on this stuffDamn....they don't see her as just an athlete but a full blown enterprise or entity. In that sort of scenario they are going to be working overtime to "curate" her image. Difference between her and Lebron is he remains in black spaces so he never had to lose his sense of self. As a result they can't curate him in the same way, but then again given that it isn't a cultural jump Lebron can preserve his "blackness". Eventhough Serena has done things in the past, we can see from the evolution of her personality over time they have gotten in her head to make her "palatable" to another "audience" which is the larger demographic of tennis.... That's a lot of repeated nudges over years that will chip away if you don't have the right support system..... unfortunate.

that's really sad. yes she wasn't the most pretty face, but she had charisma and a natural face and smile that made her pretty. Bad self esteem do a lot of damages, not matter how rich and successful you are, especially amongst black people. Perhaps not enough people told her she was beautiful before all that
I've personally never denied white women racism but Serena Williams has been targeted by white men just as much if not more, so the "white women are more racist than white men" talk is still nonsensical in this case.
