Many would say Bad Boys ofcourse but I give Blue Streak the nod. From the cast to the soudstrack. Classic. A late great one from the times when movie soundtracks really mattered for something.

Bad Boys I think is his classic
Life is his best movie all around. Is it a classic...? I think it's missing something that just stops it from being there, but it can be argued either way. Ted Demme only did Blow after that, and ironically, they both stop just short.

A Thin Line Between Love and Hate - I don't like the ending. The tone shifts too much, but it's a great movie.

Martin really isn't a great actor. He's a natural comedian, so when he's being an extension of himself it's cool. When he's trying to act...naaaah. Acctually, I think him playing the straight man in Life slightly hurts it. Switch roles, and it's an undisputed a classic.

Am i the only one remembering when Life dropped EVERYONE was saying it wasnt as funny as it should have been given that Martin and Eddie were in it? Life is one of those movies that people got fonder of years later.
Yes i think you are the only one. I remember people quoting Bernie Mac and various other shyt from that movie non stop after that it came out.
I think the entusiam for the film has actually faded over the years because people don't want to deal with the sad parts of it anymore.

Bernie Mac and cornbread were the standouts. Folks were definitely complaining about it not being really funny. I distinctly remember that shyt, folks would say "it's a good movie but it's not as funny as it should have been".

The movie isn't meant to be non stop buffoonery and comedy, people who expected that while not accepting all the other things the movie is were disappointed. That movie has aged incredibly well because it wasn't just a pure comedy. That said, everyone I knew found it funny as hell and were quoting all sorts of lines when it dropped.

bad movies from that era >> i can watch Talking Dirty After Dark all the way through.....the thing now is they'll mix genres because they're not really talented....horror turned into depressing dramas cause they don't know how to scare people.....there hasn't been a good comedy film in decades....

Facts. People were expecting an instant classic (a la Coming to America) with Martin and Eddie teaming up so it was given meh reviews at first. It’s greatness definitely got appreciated as time passed on.

People were expecting Harlem Nights 2...especially given the cast. And i think Martin playing the straight man also soured people. Ted Demme was a genius though, and it's best to not look at it as a comedy at all.

Of course, people are entitled to their opinions:

"The Bad Boys films are not classics."

:mjlol::mjlol:

....but my nikka, you smokin on somethin GOOD. General consensus has those movies as certifiable classics.

And comedy SPECIALS don't count as movies. Movies where there's stand up involved (e.g., Raw, etc.) are different because they're theatrical releases.
