He’s hella dope but he’s a millennial not Gen Z. Still agree he should get more love on this site but I gave up hope with this site and it’s lack of embracing newer dope artists.
To stick to the thread title, his lil homie Mali AKA Malachi is nice too and he's only 17 or 18

He's 23. He's fire but, his production choices and more "far left" politics in 2024 will not penetrate the mainstream/broader audience.

Hip Hop listeners are too divided now. There genuinely was "balance" to some degree before but you have a whole generation that's came up thinking having substantial lyricism is a burden and difficult to listen to. Somebody gotta find a new formula of saying "conscious" shyt but not being wordy or sounding like they aren't saying shyt but they are really are.

People call "conscious" rap white people shyt.

Gen Z are too afraid to be cancelled or whatever buzzword is out these days..

They would be apologizing on their knees if the FBI came to their houses.

It doesn’t help that they’re drugged up too.

I’d see more cats playing Future, EST Gee, Bossman DLow, and Babyface Ray over some conscious cats. The only conscious cat that spits a lot of game is Umar Johnson and he’s not a rapper.

Real talk. I asked one of our interns how can they listen to music where they can barely understand what the artist saying.

Young bruh told me "its not about the words, sometimes its just all about the vibe."

I looked at him like :why: :snoop:

To listen to most of these songs out nowadays, u have to be smoking and drinking to feel the vibe….

That’s why I can listen to EST Gee. His music has a depressing but colorful vibe
