Them presale tickets on eBay were skyrocketed. Everyone that had one from Best Buy was selling them immediately, no one knew if Sony was gonna ship anymore before Christmas.

Dunno if anyone dropped 30k but people were paying way more for PS3s in late 06 than people were paying for a PS5 when they were out of stock 2020-late 22

i actually do remember working at bestbuy when ps3 and wii launched it was crazy. The Wii was WAAAAAAY higher in demand though. I remember a woman coming up to me crying her eyes out that she couldn’t find one for her kid, didn’t really know what to tell her. I said i got mine off ebay lol

I remember not even being remotely interested in ps3 at launch, shyt was way too expensive and there wasn’t any cool games out for it.

I do remember seeing Heavenly Sword on the tv show ‘Heroes’ and being like

I worked Kmart in electronics, had folks calling me from the parking lot asking if we had Wii consoles and most of Wii Fits!!! If I had any they would stay on the phone with me till they got in the store and over to electronics .

Still got mine too. Got mine in early 08. Had to get the shytty 40gb version that didn't have the chrome (had silver instead), sd card readers, and only two USB ports. But I finally got it. The only game I had for a couple months was Uncharted. I beat that game like 30 something times.

My mom was able to get one from her coworker after launch due to her son not wanting the PS3, but wanted the 360 instead. So the lady sold the PS3 for $300 (it was the 20gb version and that cost $500) and it end up being my Christmas gift

That launch was crazy because damn near all the consoles were out of stock during that holiday season.
