I actually do pray but I must admit I haven't praying like I should. My devotional life has taken a hit but I'm steadily climbing back up.

As a Christian I know that God knows everything but I forget that He wants a personal relationship with me. Before Christ died He was praying that the Father give Him the strength to endure and that we may be one in Him.

I know many will ridicule my faith, it comes with the territory of being a Christian, I can't avoid it. What I can do is grow stronger in my faith. Some may say what is there to talk about if God apparently knows everything.

Just like an earthly father who knows his children desires so the Heavenly Father knows it and wants to give us. Don't you think God wants to spoil us with all the infinite blessings He has to offer.

Because of sin my relationship has been tarnished, prayer gives me a opportunity to renew that relationship.I can't speak for every Christian but I know there have been times where I try to do the Holy Spirit's job.

I fall for the same things every day because I don't take the time to follow Proverbs 3:5,6. Prayer does move mountains I have seen it work too many times for me to write it down.

That's my testimony on prayer.

how many times a year do we need this routine 'religious bash' thread? Joint gets old, which is why I don't really bother replying to them all that much.

I usually don't either, but I find this funny. This isn't a "religious bash" thread, some guy just ate his spinach and came in here to antagonize.

He has programmed (smiley-driven) responses for topics like this.

It's ironic that these are the same people offline who want people to leave them alone about this type of thing.

I had to pick up my sister from the casino cause her bytchass boyfriend took her phone and ditched her there. So I came down there and kicked it with her but I left the lights on in my car and over the telecom they inform me of this. So I went out and checked and my battery is dead and my phone is dead and my sister doesn't have hers so were stranded and it's dark and pouring outside and the security wouldn't help. I prayed to god to please help guide me out of this situation. But I got a little irritated when the battery wouldn't catch when I turned the keys. Then the first person I asked after that hooked me up and jumped my car. So I felt god was looking after me

But I've been in that almost exact situation before and ended up having to walk 13 miles home at 1am on the freeway.

Agreed

The internet is a wonderful thing, thank u science :ahh:

Real spit tho, i love when religious people say that....wisdom is proved by its works......as if religion has actually done anything for mankind other than give them peace of mind.

there's like virtually nothing that can be attributed to religion that has benefited mankind.....nothing......zero. What works? Religion hasn't done anything besides provide "emotional comfort" for those who decide not to accept reality. So why do people keep repeating that meme?

and please don't say Charity. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are atheist and have done more charity wise than any single religious person has ever done.

Plus the sh1t isn't even sincere anyway because any religious person who does something good only does it because they either fear hell, want to get on the sky daddy's good side, or do it simply because ___ said so. N1ggas is robots bro....sh1ts lame.....

Prayer isn't all about wants, as a few other posters have alluded to. I pray everyday I can radiate what God has intended us to be. I know I'm not perfect and I readily acknowledge there will be many days that I fall short, but I pray that when I do I'll be put back on the right path. I'm not here to convert non-believers into believers, I know what prayer has done for me and that's what I can attest to. Only a heathen would call someone a fool for looking to something greater than them for direction.

andddddd scene.

/ thread this is the what prayer is about.

Most of Americas founding fathers were either deist (believing in a higher power but rejecting all organized religions) or atheist bro. Plus the fact that one of the first things they set up was the separation between church/state speaks volumes about how they felt about organized religion.

Sweden and yes China seem to be doing pretty well also.

Shouldn't whats true be more important than what "feels good" and gives you comfort? Bussing nutts on 12 yr olds makes pedophiles feel warm and fuzzy inside but that sh1t doesn't make it right.

If you're on pursuit of what's true then yeah, whatever gives you comfort is indeed worthless and irrelevant to that goal.

Unless your only goal is having peace of mind

If you're in pursuit of what's true and you find it, that is a comforting thing overall...even if it means some temporary struggle.

I'm sorry you haven't found that yet...

sidebar: how do you know what it feels like for pedophiles to buss nutts on 12 year olds??
