Does anyone else get the feeling that Quentin Tarantino is a racist?

Hope yall put them Bronx Tale,GodFathers,Goodfellas DVDs in the Bushes as well if its that bad

If not:ufdup:

I only ever seen those movies once and never had any interest to see them again.

I understand white folks say the n-word when they are amongst themselves, but hearing it in movies always makes me feel uncomfortable.

Then that's on you. Censorship should never be invoked "to make you feel better."

70 years from now when he's dead and gone, the n-word being dropped in every one of his movies will be a running joke.

People will play games to see where they can find it in the movie.

Just because he puts some Black folks on, doesn't mean he can't be racist. It's no different from someone who may see a group of :skip: do one thing, then a group of Blacks do the samething in the same way, but think "lol Blacks."

If he casts Blacks to play the typical roles, use the same typical slang, with the same typical "issues," that's enough to read between the lines. At the end of the day he's the one who looks through the camera and decides if the footage shot is acceptable or not. It's mostly on the prejudice viewer to interpret the stereotype, but promoting it doesn't make it go away, even satirically. In some regards, the satire makes it worse.

Always comes across forced to me. Like he's trying to be edgy with this whole "banal racism."

When I was watching Inglorious b*stards, I was caught off guard when the N-word was dropped out of nowhere.

You were watching a movie about Nazis and got caught off guard when someone said a racial slur :beli:

The same thing with Kill Bill Vol. 2 . The Kill Bill one was completely unnecessary. That's when I started to notice that he puts it in every movie. :rudy:

I don't remember the word being dropped in KB2.

I think he's being realistic...White folks have this thing where they think because they aren't saying racist ish publicly, it means they aren't racist or don't have racist views. Have any of yall heard a statement that starts with "I'm not racist but" or "and I'm not just saying that, I have black friends" ...meanwhile they say racist ass ish and are ignorant to their damned racism? Well when QT and Scorsese put that ish in scripts, I don't think they're doing it because of some subconscious need to be racist in a movie. It's them acknowledging that there's still plenty of racism out there and it shouldn't be hidden behind a shiny coat of politically correct paint.

The dead ****** storage dialouge was formulaic to the character, it was used to heighten the intensity of the scene, and also give a dark humor to the whole situation
You got Jules a gangsta ass dude whose main objective is to kill
So he goes to his friend/ex partners crib to dispose of the body, and obviously he's pissed off to the point where he's throwing racial slurs to let Jules know its a real fukked up situation, the scene wouldn't have been as objective as it was
without that dialouge

as a man who looks down on bigots, and racism i didn't particularly have a problem with the scene it was handled good, and fukk it that shyt was funny

+ Tarantino made Samuel L Jackson famous, helped RZA with his director career :leon:

Hard to call, I'd lean towards not being a racist, he is definitely fascinated by race, and racism, esp. as it relates to blacks people, but racist? I though the scene in 'Pulp Fiction' is funny, it's edgy, uncomfortable, profane, racist...but it's still funny...Can see how people view it differently. Also, it is a realistic, imo, portrayal of criminals, and people in general, this wasn't an office building, or a bank, it was hitman and people in organized crime. Profane, offensive, racist....they don't give a fukk. It's also used in that way..it's hard to explain, like Juelz wasn't even necessarily offended by what Jimmy said, it's the way things go in that world, and they were personal friends anyway.
