This is my understanding of what an industry plant is. A fake grassroots come up with the label clandestinely behind the scenes pushing the artist.Labels want fans to believe they discovered these artist organically. And they were coincidentally there from the beginning, to see the meteoric rise that happened 6 months to a year later.
Makes fans go harder believing they were apart of movement before it blew. But in reality there was no movement originally. Just more people gradually being made to check for an artist due to fake cosigns/narratives/awards. It's essentially the labels faking it,until the artist ACTUALLY makes it
