These songs are 3+ years old, shes been signed to TDE for a minute slowly grinding, she didn't appear out of nowhere. She eventually signed to Capitol, got a sleeper hit with "What It Is" 2 years ago and then delivered better music on her debut.

It's great to see the label backing her and actually pushing an album for longer than a month.

Well you and I can respectfully disagree on what constitutes an industry plant. To me it derives from a time when consumers actually cared about independence when it came to artists and tried to hide their label affiliation. Almost none of the artists everyone on this site call “industry plants” have ever tried to portray themselves like this. Doechii specifically has touted her TDE affiliation from the start which is easily one of the strongest and most sought after industry co-signs and necessarily not something a plant would do.
The reason record contracts are so predatory is because for every 20 artists they “push the button” for and spend a ton of money to promote they hope that one makes it. The one success pays for all the failures. Somewhere right now people are working A&R jobs trying to figure out a song that gets people to spend 2 seconds more on TikTok videos than similar songs or other such metrics in order to try and find the next Doechii. It’s all out in the open.

Why do you say the bolded as if that time came and went? If we both acknowledge that fans caring about that is a real thing,Our only disagreement is on whether we agree it's still a thing fans care about.

I think there's evidence that fans do,which is why this "plant" thing is even a discussion that keeps popping up.

Also I'd argue that while yes TDE is a huge label, they have that LOUD factor. Where it's a label full of underground darlings. So signing to that label wouldnt hurt in any way.

In fact it's helping. Because if she was on any label other than TDE,people would trust it. She would almost be universally bashed in my opinion for appearing to be a fake creation. TDE provides her cover and credibility from the plant tactics.

Eh, it's clear what's happening but I want girls that make music like her to get spotlighted and promoted

We've had the opposite pushed in our face for the last 5 years
This shows that imagery is everything because this post is hilarious :mjlol:

The only difference between Doechii and someone like Glorilla is that Jordan Peele, neo noir black history art aesthetic :mjlol:

Yup,Kendrick was definitely a plant

"When Kendrick Lamar released Section.80 in 2011, it was again rumored that Interscope was funneling money into the project’s promotion. But again, nothing was confirmed, and rumors were just that – rumors. The official announcement of the signing came a year later, in 2012, just a couple months in advance of GKMC‘s release. But in the upcoming episode of Talking Points, frequent TDE collaborator Terrace Martin told TSS, “Kendrick was signed to Interscope before they made it public, and he still dropped Section.80, and that was indie.”
When asked to clarify if Kendrick was signed before Section.80, the producer repeated himself, “Yeah. And he still dropped Section.80, but that was an independent project.”[/b]

Funneling money into a project on the low is definitely one of the elements of an industry plant. I don't particularly like this brand of promotion. But it's nothing that completely disqualifies you. So I'm not sure why fans hate to acknowledge it. Other than the fact they know what we know. When GOAT discussions happen,it will come into play as one of the "cons". Rightfully so,in hip-hop getting it out the mud frfr hits different.

Industry plants never had to prove they can take the internet by storm, lock up they city locally, let along the streets nationwide:respect:#Asterisk #BALCO

Glorilla and SZA were better choices for the award. TDE got the critics on payroll and getting her all these awards and got the streaming farms going crazy now.

Doechii just opened her mouth :lolbron:

And the overrating of this chick because she can do a solid Nicki Minaj impression and rapped over a boom bap beat :russ:

Are in the Tampa legends ring of honor lol

That Middleton, Howard Blake history runs deep. I stumbled upon a video on YouTube that talks about William Bethel. He has the all time most successful record in Tampa basketball history, bro was the Red Auerbach of basketball during the days of segregation. He also even inadvertently brought the game of basketball to Broward and parts of West Palm Beach through his students who also went on to become successful Florida hall of fame coaches

This here.

But we have a lot of weirdos and losers on here that hate women. Doe's been online for 8-9 years uploading mixtapes and loosies to SoundCloud. It took almost a decade for her to get to this point. The success makes a lot of dudes on here uncomfortable, for whatever reason, but she's been grinding forever. She deserves her respect for that.
