In the first of this three-part series, Jacques reveals how product lifespan holds the key to our ever-churning consumerism.

Exploring the historical origin of planned obsolescence, when some of the world biggest electrical manufacturers formed a light bulb cartel in the 1920's, he reveals how products that are essential to our modern lifestyles are still made to break.

Funny thing is I've been thinking about upgrading my phone recently. I've had it for about 9 months and have had no real issues with the phone so I'm not entirely sure where the urge to upgrade is coming from. :dwillhuh:

Documentary on the history of Nigeria, tells what happened from the beginning, and what lead to years of corruption/tribalism and mistrust. For the Giant of Africa to progress we need to learn from our devastating past and not make the same mistakes:ufdup:, Dope and i recommend to all those interested.

Last night before bed I watched Let the Fire Burn, a great documentary about the City of Philadelphia's botched eviction of Move:

This caught my eye as Wilson Goode (1st black mayor of Philly in office at the time of the eviction) spoke at my church one time, and afterwards my dad told me about this. I especially liked that the film was presented entirely through archived video and clips of one of the survivors' deposition and the council hearing on the matter, ie without any current day interviews or narration.

BLUE GOLD about the planet's dwindling fresh water reserves.

BLACKFISH about Sea World and killer whales in captivity, but specifically the trainers that were EATEN BY KILLER WHALES AND THEN COVERED UP. It's pretty great.
