Doc Rivers is so pathetic, he deserves all the jokes and criticism coming to him. We're supposed to believe he knew SGA would become top 5 player in the league and somehow Rivers would coach their asses to title? NBA is really not that professional if he's still getting hired to coach.

Smiling in interviews and blaming someone else is what he does.

I don't think OKC was that hard up for SGA. I don't remember anyone reporting that they were demanding SGA in the trade. His salary + Gallo salary matched so all the clippers had to give up was two players. OKC cared more about the picks.

SGA would be doing exactly what PG been doing with Kawhi, playing second banana until he get hurt and then crumbling under the pressure of trying to be a number one on a team designed for him to be the number 2.

This SGA revisionist history is ridiculous :mjlol:

Go find 3 people when that trade happen who said "oh know the clippers should not try and get PG they should keep this rookie averaging 13 3 and 3 this is a terrible trade for the clippers:mjlol:

Doc making it sound like Kawhi Leonard was the GM, Coach, and POBO talking about he tried to convince him not to trade SGA:mjlol:
There's not a chance in hell OKC does that trade without SGA after the playoff series he had vs GSW as a rookie

Doc Rivers might very clear of anyone on the Celtics 08 team (except KP) in terms of being corny and embarrassing with the cap and taking responsibility.

They wanted to win straight away and did not know what Shai would become. 5 first rounders, Shai, Danilo 20ppg and more swaps. That does not sound like something you strongly believe in :mjlol:

doc is the reason mcgrady never linked with tim duncan in orlando. and every version of those clippers teams depends on kawhi's healthy anyways

dude really needs to start a podcast already since its clear that wild takes and revisionist history is what he excels at

I swear back in 2020 Doc flat out said he was the one who brought up Paul George/put his name down as a list of available stars for Kawhi to choose from that they (LAC) would get for him no problem, if he were to sign with them :mjlol:

That's where the whole "it's a packaged deal" came from, because after KL said ok cool I choose PG, Doc had to then explain to Ballmer what he just promised and Ballmer was like WTF did you just do? :mjlol:

So now, 5 years later... Doc wants to spin it that he was the voice of reason and everyone else was trippin?

It’s believable. Most players don’t want to wait for the next generations of stars. Lebron was the same way in La and got his wish.

We’re goin through it now In Houston. I’m just waiting for the dumb trade to happen because Ime wants to win now
He wants to win now because coaches are on a shorter grace period these days

'Cause you lied about Dame's weight, you lied about CP3's surgery :mjtf:
You lied about your hairline and your playoff history, all is perjury :childplease:

Ime lacks vision. He’s impatient. He didn’t even want to start Sengun. Luckily sengun balled out. But Ime wanted to start Brook Lopez. He got criticized at end of season post conference for what he said about Jalen Green when asked what advice he would give him going forward, and he said start earlier. ppl said how can he figure it out and start earlier when he has the weakest of the holiday brothers playing ahead of him in crucial situations

That's why I'm not mad at all the sh*t that's going on with PG and the team right now. Kawhi didn't want to roll the dice with SGA and demanded the front office to go get Durant, Jimmy Butler, or PG who was the third choice, and so here we are. It is what it is.

Doc is a scoundrel.

It has been reported time and again that Kawhi was only going to the clips if they got a star. There is zero chance he was going there to play without it. He wouldve been a laker, and every gm trades sga to get kawhi and PG. It's a no brainer

Stars of Kawhi's ilk don't have the time to wait on guys to become all-NBA level players, they want to compete right away. Somebody already mentioned how LeBron got Wiggins up outta there before training camp started when he came back to Cleveland for a proven guy in Love. That's just what it is, and it's not a guarantee they'd have won anything anyway had SGA stayed. Stars who have power do this shyt all the time and teams will gladly oblige, it just is what it is. You can't just retroactively go back when a guy has become an all-NBA level player and say the deal was stupid back then, because if the Clippers had won a chip throughout this run then nobody would even be talking about it.

Wouldn't have won shyt but the clippers would be in a way better position today
Still it's disingenuous to judge a team for making that move in retrospect. every franchise is trading a young prospect like that for a proven AS level vet.....unless its a Wemby/Lebron level player. Even with all his prospect hype the cavs traded Wiggins for Love with no hesitation
