If you have an Nvidia card then you'll be in for a sweet ride with Borderlands 2, as it'll be making full use of the Nvidia's proprietary PhysX capabilities that improves in-game physics-reactions, graphics and particle effects. In simple terms, everything will be better in Borderlands 2 if you have an Nvidia card that supports PhysX.

Randy Pitchford showed off some of the PhysX properties in Borderlands 2 earlier this year when Nvidia officially unveiled the 680GTX but it was during a conference and hard to appreciate at the time. This time, however, Nvidia released the full-on comparison between PhysX based gameplay and non-PhysX gameplay and the differences are a generational gap apart.

A lot of weapon effects are still the same from the original Borderlands, but they make vastly different when used in conjunction with the PhysX capabilities. Notice how the environmental debris reacts and responds to the explosive vacuum of the grenade, or how the explosions mushroom and bloom. The most impressive is probably the liquid reactions, which makes some of the weapons seem to have an all new kind of differentiated characteristic than when it's used without PhysX.

The unfortunate part about it is that even if you play the game on PC you'll still need a dedicated PhysX card or an Nvidia brand card with PhysX support to experience the awesomeness featured in that trailer. Sorry to all the AMD users out there. And before you ask, the Xbox 360 and PS3 were released before PhysX hardware became available so neither console will be able to do what was shown off in the trailer.

You can look for Borderlands 2 to launch on September 18th for home consoles and PC. Need to pre-order? Need more info? Want to look at some pretty, pretty guns? Feel free to Mosey on over to the Official Borderlands Website.

Crawmerax was pretty much the hardest challenge the first Borderlands had to offer, and required a group of four maximum-level players all with high-level gear to take it down. Terramorphous is like that, except he's even more of a b*stard.

A raid boss comes on the disc this time because Gearbox wants to include enough end-game content to keep players who've hit the level 50 cap playing for years after launch. The developer has already revealed one of the new mechanics designed to do this, the unique Badass system and its infinite levels of profile-wide progression.

"You can fight Terramorphous multiple times and he's going to drop different loot every time. Some of the best gear in the game, great legendary items, will drop from this guy. He has specific items that only drop from him in the game. There are some legendaries you'll only find from him.

"A lot of the end-game pull is that four-player co-op challenge at a high level against a really tough-to-fight boss. He is designed to be impossible. I'm not going to say he's not soloable, because I know how well gamers break games, but he really is tuned for that end-game, four-player co-op fight, testing your build and your gear and your equipment and your ability to work together as a team. His rewards are great. So, if you are that end-game player, this is your challenge right here."

Each character class has one: a unique ability deep down at the end of a skill tree, only available at level 50 and designed to, as the name suggests, change the way you play.

Borderlands 2's second play-through is called True Vault Hunter Mode. Like the second play-through on Borderlands, TVHM is harder with tougher enemies. But where the first game simply tasked the player to increase their hit points and do more damage with better guns against enemies with more hit points and better guns, a second play through of Borderlands 2 requires the player to think. The AI works differently using unique behaviours. More enemies use shields. More wear armour. More are Badass class. There are enemies that only appear in TVHM. To defeat them you'll have to put those top-tier abilities to good use. And in co-op, which automatically scales up the challenge depending on how many are in your party, understanding how different classes work together is essential.

"We all felt it needed to be more than just turning up the dials. More than just more damage and more health and ta-daa we're done. For example, more enemies have shields. That seems like a really small thing, but it now makes shock more viable. So if you're playing in co-op, get someone with a shock gun and their job is to bring down the shields. Enemies will have more armour on them. So don't shoot them in the armour bit. You're going to have to aim a little bit better and hit the sweet spots.

"We've spent quite a bit of time thinking about it. We've given you a whole chest of tools. Now, if you want to survive, use them all. First game, you don't need them all. Have fun, but learn them all. And now it's time to separate the men from the boys. That's what True Vault Hunter mode is all about. It's much more than difficulty. It's tactics."

If they're gonna add the "1,000 guns" they need to be more unique. It was like a pistol looked the same but shot fire, bullets or acid. They were dope, don't get me wrong, but I was expecting different styles and looks. And if they're putting in a 50 cal sniper that mother fukker should be a 1 hit kill; especially if it's packing some god damn fire bullets.

Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford took to Twitter a few days ago and let all his followers know that Borderlands 2 has officially gone gold. The game brings a bazillion guns with it, along with new classes, new vehicles, new enemies, new environments and new everything. The most important part, though, are all the new guns.

Last month on this very same day Pitchford announced that the game had been shipped off for certification, a process that usually takes a few weeks. After the game goes gold it then takes another few weeks to get it to the manufacturing plants and have a bunch of copies made. Pitchford was also forward-thinking enough to announce that while the game had been shipped off for certification, they would be conceptualizing and implementing the Mechromancer and aiming to assure fans that the DLC would not be disc-locked content. The verdict is still out on that.

On August 17th, Pitchford confirmed via Twitter [via PC Gamer] that the game has officially gone gold and all design and development is done and complete, saying...

"Borderlands 2 is now GOLD (360, PS3 EU, PS3 NA, Win PC)! PSN, PS3 JP + others imminent. Official statement to come when all ballots are in."

Meh, do we really need to wait for an official statement? I'd spare paying the marketing guy a bit by just using the tweet to spread the word. I mean, if I wanted to save a few bucks and all.

Borderlands 2 will take gamers back to Pandora where they'll face off against Handsome Jack, the head honcho of Hyperion. The game bolsters a ton of new features, PC-exclusive PhysX support, split-screen play for consoles (and PC if you tweak it a bit), and all the gungasmic, loot-and-grind action you could possibly hope for.

Borderlands 2 is set for release in North America for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on September 18th. Need more info? Feel free to visit the Official Website.
