why is it when we look for contributing factors people call it an excuse? these things don’t exist in a vacume, a country that has mass shootings like we do, yet others don’t has some cultural and social issues that should be anaylized and discussed. this issue our country is having didn’t just happen out of thin air

Internet buzz words like toxic masculinity is part of the problem. Those kinds of terms easily fit into tweets but are the same as every talking head on Fox News and CNN. Everyone thinks they are a Harvard professor because they can use terms without actually digging down into the problem.

Until we as Americans actually start getting down into the things we value like Military overspending and things we pay lip service to like homelessness. Mental Health stigmas. Prison as punishment with no reform. We aren't getting anywhere with why we have aggression put out in the form of bullets.

I minored in sociology way before social media became a thing but right now it could be just as big of a social institution as other predefined social institutions (ie school, church, family, government, etc...).
