I think it's possible he gets sucked back in from being around the AEW fan fest stuff. He's been humbled by being a (public) failure at everything he's tried since leaving WWE, and despite his grumpy hermit persona he's an entertainer at heart and needs the attention and adulation which is why he does all the appearances he does for comics and video game shyt. Ultimately wrestling is the only thing he's ever been good and successful at, and wrestling fans are the only people that care about him as a performer/public figure.

A normal person would have been significantly humbled after the past 5 years that Punk has had in the public eye, which to me makes it a lot more possible he returns now than it was 2 years ago.
