Technology doesn't scare me. I'm generally excited about the new trends and try to be what they call an "early adopter"

But for some reason these recent A.I. advances have given me a little anxiety. We've actually had A.I. booms and winters in the past, but lately I've been listening and reading WAAAY too many smart people saying, this is it, we're here. And we're not ready for what's coming

Right off the bat, imagine a world in JUST 3-5 YEARS, where roughly 70-80 percent of labor can be done by advances in A.I.

Because of globalization, things move quick and won't be limited to the US. We just hit the 8 billion people mark. Are we ready for large masses of people who are essentially NOT needed for work.

What about when any Tom, dikk and Harry can essentially train large language models that are BETTER THAN CHATGPT 4 in their garage to launch cyber attacks or teach them how to build bio weapons.

In terms of finding cures to illness, detecting disease early, and a host of other things it could be a positive.

However, the potential detriment is something I'm not sure most people are considering. A close friend is the senior editor for a financial publication and just did a story about how quantum computers can hack any password in seconds - like access to nukes maybe? Not to mention the financial havoc that could wreak. Or how about coming up with biological/chemical weapons that we can't begin to conceive of.

People really need to be following this very closely. I'm pretty nervous about what this means for the future, and I'm not one to do so easily.
