He's ok, im not impressed by his lyrics. he's not a solo artist to me. he's cool on a track wit other nikkas, then do his lil crooning. but a lot of these nikkas would be better off in groups. :manny:

might seem that way cause I’m comparing a legend to a rookie, but besides double timing, which technical skills do you think busta is better at?
Literally everything. Better flow, delivery, wordplay, cadence, voice projection, energy, believability, multi-syllabic rhyming. There isn't a single attribute Stove God has over Busta Rhymes.

And I think Stove God is dope but talent wise, there's really no comparison. Busta is one of the nicest rappers ever, from strictly a talent perspective.

If rap was sports, in 1990, Busta would've been the Number 1 draft pick of the class.

Stove God in 2017, I'm not even sure if he would've been a first round pick, at all, just talent wise.

I don’t view flow, delivery, cadence, voice projection, energy or believability as tech skills, but yes busta is better in those aspects. I much prefer stove’s pen tho. I never really thought of busta highly as a straight up lyricist when you remove all the performative aspects to his writing. Meanwhile when you just look at stove god’s bars, the man will have a triple entendre tucked somewhere and shyt is heat

Give me an example. Not saying he doesn't do it, I just like to see what you mean

I've listened to Stove God, and I believe he's a good lyricist, but I don't rank him nearly as high as Busta when it comes to skill set. But it also depends on your perspective of lyricism. Entendres are only one aspect of lyricism, and depending on how highly you rank them, determines how highly you grade certain MCs lyrically. There's wordplay, punchlines, syllabic usage, imagery, storytelling, word bending, etc...that fall under the lyricism category. For example, Nas won't have triple entendres like Lupe, but Lupe can't paint a vivid story like Nas can.

He still is with Busta. He was different when he was just Aaron Cooks under Lord Jamar. Stove God is just Aaron Cooks turned up to 11.

Oh word? I thought they parted ways(amicable). I thought he spoke on it but maybe there's paperwork or Busta lets him rock out now he's got his lane.

one bar that comes to mind is the stove god bar where he says “both my exes are a 10 and they both a dub” exes meaning his past girlfriends, the Roman numeral X which also represents 10. Thought that bar was especially slick outside of the surface based humor. But yea I don’t wanna derail the thread too much with this hot take, it’s a preference thing to me. I’ll wait til stove has a deeper catalog before comparing him to busta

Agreed, but Stove God has a more intricate pen IMO. I would also have believability as a toss up. Busta went from high school party guy to lovable weirdo maniac to super thug crack dealer to rich grizzled veteran.
