Robbed this idea from Era cause its an interesting topic...do you consider the 360 and ps3 retro consoles yet? Especially since next year we're likely going to next gen.....But on the other hand their ability to connect to internet and stream keeps them much more relevant and useful than any other past consoles which were basically just gaming boxes.

Is a PS3 or Xbox that can still run netflix and hulu considered Retro?

It depends on next gen.

There was a "jump" this generation, but it might've been the smallest jump between generations. Doesnt compare to what we saw between say NES to SNES/Genesis or N64/PS1 to PS2/Xbox. GOW Ascension on PS3 still holds up pretty well right now.....basically imo we've been in the same place since PS3/360 just with higher resolutions and SOMETIMES higher fps.

True photo realism is the next step, which I'm a bit weary about because i think we are fast approaching the uncanny valley.....I dont know if I want my games looking exactly like real life...

:lupe:

I'm very curious to see what games look like in 3 years

but a lot of that is just the limitations of that old hardware. if you play those games on PC, or if they have good BC support on the new consoles, they can still look pretty good

That xbox/ps2 to 360/PS3 leap was mindblowing to me. I still play my 360 til this day.

PS1 to PS2 era was the biggest leap, I mean Dreamcast blew away n64 and ps1
PS3 did not blow away ps2

It took the ps3 like 4 years to going, the launch for them systems were horrible and the games looked like ps2 games

PS3 XBOX360 was the longest generation so people forget how bad it was in the beginning, I didn't even a ps3 until 2011/12I had stop playing videogames

PS4 was a way bigger leap to me, Infamous Second Son blew away anything on ps3 and it was an early title
