All blacks everywhere are my people..I'm Black American and went to Caribana in Toronto..my friend that I went with is Haitian...All of these different Caribbean black islands, just representing..they were all my brothers and sisters! Like really really, being around so many black people of different cultures makes you realize that..being black isn't a monolithic thing, we are all different but share so much :blessed:

yeah I get that, but at the same time I feel like via the internet a 'global culture' is happening. we all listen to the same music, eat the same food, watch the same movies, etc.

Yes and no. I was happy for usain bolt killing it at the track but I would have been even happier if it was a black American. I'm happy for the British guy Anthony Joshua winning the heavyweight title but I'll be if happier wilder (American) beats him

To me, I class all black people as black people, separated by water and land. black is black to me. but it seems on the coli a lot of people deem black people from other land masses are not black.
Why wouldn't we? Globally we share the same plight of colonization AND oppression. The Haitians fought against the French and won :win::salute:

Why not

Think about the so called brothers and sisters here in America who has fukk u over plenty of times.

There's no difference besides culture and some might think of u not being on their level, but u take every one American or not with caution

im not saying you shouldn't, im just interested...

why are you attached to nationality, more so than race? you're in America because of a white man (unless you're a recent immigrant) so why so much loyalty to a land you was kidnapped and put on?

I feel a connection because we all suffered in this place called America together.

Put like this it's like prison. African Americans are in prison a, Jamaicans prison b, black Cubans in prison c.

I'm gonna be more connected to prison A because that's where I'm at and I'm gonna be closer to people there cos we suffering this shyt together.

I got love for prison b and c but I'm
More connected with A.

Not every black American is a brother to me. I have a few close non AA friends and they are my brothers.

It's a complicated thing to explain.
But in the context of this convo I'm
More likely to connect with a black American because of culture/location.

I think for a lot of people who haven't travelled the answer would be no. I expect them to post soon

But when you in the most random back water town in a village somewhere they doesn't speak your language, and you see another black breh and they give you the head nod and you respond…then you realise your brothers and sisters are all over the world

yep that nod like if anything goes down and jethro and gunnar wanna f around I got you breh

Not really the black race is to vast to view someone as your brother or kin you have to share a similar culture to them I have more in common with Jamaicans, trinis and even dominic00ns than I do AA as a person who grew up in a Haitian/ semi Dominican household. Just like I would think a AA would have more in common with black Canadians and black U.K. Brehs who are three to four generations in

Somalians are the only black people in the diaspora that I cant really instantly embrace as "my people". I have nothing against them they just don't physically look black to me. Their bone structure, hair and other features seem distinctively different than most other black folks.
I don't even view somalians as black
But y'all consider Ethiopians and Eritreans black? That makes total sense :skip:
