What do you mean as a "higher power?"
All we did was reconstitute the substrates and put them in conditions we knew they'd prosper in...much like the very life we've known to exist: Ours and everything else we can see.
In fact, we can look out at different planets and using samples form the light emitted from their atmospheres, we can deter if they have or might have had life on them based on the chirality of the molecular absoption spectrums.
The desire to "find higher power" doesn't mean anything if all it is, is really favorable conditions for molecular complexity.
Doesn't mean its the ONLY favored orientations of those substrates though...
