yea I think that's what exactly happens. Which is why I'm not afraid of death because you won't even know or feel anything. You just shut off like any electronic device.
Of course it's not as glamorous as other ideals from religion which is why religion is so attractive to some in the first place. Who wants to end forever if they can be promised that they go somewhere else after they die.
