Do y'all take this as Cam and Mase disrespecting Big L or being truthful?

Cam actually ended up putting trooper j ahead of him later on.

Also for swag raps - Wallo said Mase was first to do the brag raps in that way after they asked cam and mase was first and they both said big daddy kane and biggie took it to another level. Then it was clear that mase took it an even higher level than big on bragging in your face.

i watched the interview, i thought they were being genuine and fair when they were trying to grade and place Big L on where they would rank Big L on their lists

and they both said, it was no slight or disrespect to Big L.

it felt like they were coming from a genuine place and really trying to rank him accordingly to music and memory.

and like Cam said, L didn't really get that time to possibly be that artist he had the talent to be, so it's always a "what if" and question mark

even L's album sorta fell short of what an emcee of his caliber could've made at that time in the 90's. Good album, but not quite up to par IMO

They knew Big L as a childhood friend from how we as the rest of the world knew Big L as an artist and emcee, so I feel like their hearts are in the right place

They didn't come off disrespectful or fake to me, just felt like they were being FAIR and HONEST
Big L was dope enough to carry his albums with his lyrics tho. Album was lacking production wise but Big L lyrics were dope as fukk on there.

This was dope :ehh:

Mook and Lux nicer than everybody named.
Neither of them fukking with Mase Cam or Big L :camby:

I was gonna make a thread on this top 5 they got lol... I personally think using "Big L just didn't get enough time" as the reason why he can't be in your top 3 is weird considering you said you're thinking of cats you knew who were "dumb nice" but "didn't get a chance" and at the same time you got Juelz in your top 3 because "he got 200 songs out" when most of those songs are "my gun hotter than the stove is on, so hot even I thought the stove was on but the stove is off" level.

I mean does it make any difference that Big L "didn't get enough time" when Trooper J is still alive but hasn't done much as far as music and you got him ahead of Big L in your list?

With that said, I'm glad Flea pointed out how Big L and Nas were in fact on the same label and everybody in real time could see who was the star, so cats need to dead this "poor thing" narrative that, if the powers that be didn't hate on Big L for whatever reason, he was gonna be Godlike; it's like somebody here said the other day: if breh never died, him turning out like Mic Geronimo or some shyt is a lot more reasonable than him ever being on Hov's level or something like that.

Cam was trying to come off politically correct, but Ma$e was straight bitter/hatin imo. L was def nicer than both when he died too. L's first album didn't even get to drop when it was supposed to :comeon:.

:mjlol:at L ending up like Mic Geronimo, Mic was supposed to be the man too. The game is all about timing, place, situation and etc. L was just about to strike hot before his untimely demise.

There's no hate in that clip, first off. Just a rap discussion which I like/respect.

Do I think Big L was a dope rapper? Yes. Do I think he's overrated in death? Yes. I just don't think he had the time to do whatever he was going to do. Maybe it's a different convo if Big L got the Rocafella album, was featured on the Dynasty album etc. Or maybe not. It's hard to tell but my issue with his rating is that Biggie and Pac dropped undeniable classics before death. Big L didn't.

Bloodshed was better than cam AND mase on all those songs they did together, crazy they'd forget him
I heard all that Children of the Corn shyt

Nah, Cam’ron, Mase, and Big L were the best ones multi gods. I would say Big L was the most naturally talented.

Multisyllable rhymes, punchlines, storytelling, had some conscious shyt too, and he had the best flow/voice. I think the fly shyt was more believable coming from Cam and Mase though, Big L just never struck me as a fly dude.
