Do y'all take this as Cam and Mase disrespecting Big L or being truthful?

They both said Trooper J was the third best rapper ever from Harlem behind them.

Mase had Trooper J over Big L. They said he was the nicest nikka from Harlem basically but never got a chance.

The top 5 Mase had was
1) Mase
2) Cam
3) Trooper J
4) Big L
5) Mike Boogie
*Juelz was mentioned and Mase said Juelz has to be in his top 5 somewhere. I have to go back and listen to hear if he re-ranked him

Cam'ron
1) Cam
2) Mase
3) Juelz
4) Big L
5) McGruff

East Side!
Thought this would be related to them being cool with his killer still
His killer is dead. Big L was nice as fukk, don’t get it twisted, but I don’t see him giving you an Only You Remix or Mo Money Mo Problem, classics that people recite word for word. Mase was nice and Cam too and really put Harlem on the map. I think without the legal issues Max B would be the GOAT Harlem rapper, he is to me, but I can’t deny Mase and Cam’s impact, especially with a major backing like Bad Boy and Roc-A-Fella

i watched the interview, i thought they were being genuine and fair when they were trying to grade and place Big L on where they would rank Big L on their lists

and they both said, it was no slight or disrespect to Big L.

it felt like they were coming from a genuine place and really trying to rank him accordingly to music and memory.

and like Cam said, L didn't really get that time to possibly be that artist he had the talent to be, so it's always a "what if" and question mark

even L's album sorta fell short of what an emcee of his caliber could've made at that time in the 90's. Good album, but not quite up to par IMO

They knew Big L as a childhood friend from how we as the rest of the world knew Big L as an artist and emcee, so I feel like their hearts are in the right place

They didn't come off disrespectful or fake to me, just felt like they were being FAIR and HONEST

Bloodshed is Cam'ron's cousin and he always talks about him, but he probably looks at him differently since it was his cousin. Or maybe he didn't think he was as nice as the others

Blood was ill, but he did spit the same verse on mad different songs

I was gonna make a thread on this top 5 they got lol... I personally think using "Big L just didn't get enough time" as the reason why he can't be in your top 3 is weird considering you said you're thinking of cats you knew who were "dumb nice" but "didn't get a chance" and at the same time you got Juelz in your top 3 because "he got 200 songs out" when most of those songs are "my gun hotter than the stove is on, so hot even I thought the stove was on but the stove is off" level.

I mean, does it make any difference that Big L "didn't get enough time" when Trooper J is still alive but hasn't done much as far as music and you got him ahead of Big L in your list?

With that said, I'm glad Flea pointed out how Big L and Nas were in fact on the same label and everybody in real time could see where each one was headed, so cats can dead this "poor thing" narrative about dude as if Big L was this unfairly treated underground emcee who was gonna be Godlike if given a chance by the industry; it's like somebody said here the other day: if breh never died, him turning out like Mic Geronimo or some shyt is a lot more reasonable than him ever being on Hov's level or something like that.
