Being Black and knowing the history of America and how it's worked to undermine Black people's progress and civil liberties, among other things, since its inception, I've never been much of the patriotic type .

My mentality has always been that being Black, based on what we know about America, past and present, and being patriotic to the red, white, and blue in the long run has no benefits. I feel like Black people who do fall into that trap have been indoctrinated by American propaganda; it's one thing to be born somewhere without your own doing, and it's another to be kissing the flag after acknowledging the ills and terror America has done to your people.

Aside of the UK and maybe canada there is no where else that the average black person still has a chance to climb up in society and get into the middle class and have serious success. As someone who have been to this european countries and lived there for some time, they are racists to the core and hate black people, try living in spain as a black person and see the vitriol and hate you are shown on a daily basis, its nothing compared to even living in the worst redneck us state.
There is a reason millions of people every year try to come into the US and not these other european countries.

My argument is that by all metrics we use to measure the best, America isn't even in the top 5.

Americans were polled, the data was collected, and America ranks lower than those other countries. I'm happy that you *feel* like you live in the best country, but a lot of other people apparently disagree enough that America never cracks the top 5 on these metrics.

The concept of Patriotism has been hijacked by rich a$$holes who want people to not ask better of their bosses or their government. Actual Patriotism looks like recognizing your country's short comings and voting for better because they're not satisfied with losing to other countries.

But I still hold firm, there is no place you would rather live in than the United States, because, just like the millions of people who immigrate to America and figure it out, you would do the exact same thing if you found another country where the overall quality of life was that much better.

People leave their families behind every day to immigrate to America and Europe. People spend months and years apart, fly back, fly their families out, move them out, apply for visas, apply for green cards, etc. They go through the hassle because it is worth it.

If you found a country where the quality of life was that much higher, you would do the same.

I don't know how to break this to you, but there are black people living in those countries who don't live in fear of "police" gunning them down or white supremacists killing them in a shooting spree.

I don't know how you could witness this election and still say that America is a country where black people are accepted and live comfortably when we are over represented in the prison stats, have lower life expectancy, and have not grown as a percentage of the overall population due to institutional racism designed to keep our numbers low.

As I said, it's not my intention to make you think America is trash, you've basically been reduced to saying "well at least we aren't nazi germany"

But I've got some news for you: they aren't going to dismantle those camps they'll build to deport immigrants, and nazi Germany initially wanted to deport it's jews. It became too expensive to do that, so they used the infrastructure they built to deport them to do what we all know they did.

An apartheid era racist who has several hundred billion dollars will now be part of a white supremacist federal government. I don't need to tell you what his plans are for black Americans once they're done with immigrants.

Feelings can't be measured, but by all the stats, America isn't winning.
