They don’t though. A lot of people in the same conferences don’t play each other for years.
That makes sense. I was under the impression that they rotated the schedule each year such that you could play everyone in your conference every few years while keeping the rivalry games in tact.

SMF and LAX to VA and NC
They not bout to throw all that money away breh :russ:
I know they aren't 😆 but they should!
If anything, they should do it like NFL where the person with the best record in their conference is the champion. If you’re a team like Texas and you’re working for a bye, you essentially had to play an extra game anyway because of the conference championship. If you lose, you essentially lose your bye and would have played an extra game going into the playoffs with potentially more wear and tear on your team.
💯!

TYRONE GA!
Fukk being a conference champion, an at large, group of 5 etc....

Just give me the 12 best damn teams and lets do a playoffs
Way too subjective.

At least if you get the conference champs from every FBS conference, they would have earned that spot.

Also not opposed to eliminating the conference championship games (aka money grabs) so that a 16 team playoff can happen.
Even if you keep it @ 12, we currently have 9 FBS conferences (10 if the Pac comes back). Leaves 2 at large so Notre Dame can shutup. Got a problem, win or join a conference.

The new format is fine, however, I'm underwhelmed because there are so many multiple loss teams playing, and teams with so many vulnerabilities.

It would have been more interesting in previous years when there were more powerhouse teams in the hunt. This year, not so much.

Do you believe all conference champions are created equal?

Isn't it funny how this is not a question for any other football playoffs in any of the other divisions? And they still make room for at-large qualifiers?

It’s crazy though cause they might keep one of the most exciting players(Lanorris Sellers) out of it… also wish Colorado would’ve handled business so they could be in. Oh well. Hope teams like Boise State and Indiana aren’t flops if they both make it

The problem with the sport from the playoff era on is that everyone has attempted to maximize the postseason at the expense of the regular season.

BCS was a farce of a postseason product, but by nature of being a 2-team party, where massive brands were routinely sitting at home, the sport had to make the other games matter too. You had some Rose Bowls that were damn near as big as the natty. The Boise St-OU game is as (if not more) memorable as any semi final game has been.

I think college inherently is such a pure product that even with the mishandling of the last decade, it’s still an incredible one. But I do believe it’ll eventually stripped of most of its pageantry.

The OU/ Boise State game was crazy. I’m surprised the two teams haven’t played since.
