Italians and Irish are some of the groups that attack blacks the hardest in the US.
Most likely its because at times both groups were actually classified as black or lower than blacks at certain points of time and when they were brought into the white fold made sure to go extra hard on blacks as if it wiped out that they were once seen as equal to black people.

Their attacks on blackness grant them entry into whitenes and their hatred of black people mitigates their insecurities
