I mean, is it the dream of Atheists to exist in a world where people have no moral code or higher being that they look up to? Most humans are depraved and wicked naturally I believe. If you look on various godless societies like the ancient Roman empire, their way of life was replete will all kinds of heinous and evil behaviours that would make and decent man shudder. From homosexuality, murder, pedofilia, to beastiality it was all fair game and apart of everyday culture.

More modern examples can be seen in the societies of the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, China. Each of the aformentioned countries were well known godless societies that have numerous examples of outrageous atrocities and human rights violations.

No as to which God is best, that is somethign I cant answer. But it can't be coincidental that societies that have a general basis in religion tend to be more stable and long lasting.

Other people already pointed out the historical errors here, but just to add, there is absolutely no correlation between "godlessness" and "evil," seeing as most societies throughout history, good or bad, civilized or barbaric, have been religious.

Also, in no way were pedophilia and bestiality allowed in ancient Rome.

Atheists just love to talk, they are always quick to tell you they dont believe in God like you give a fukk. What i dont like is them disrespecting the faiths of over 2000 years of Men greater than themselves.

But watch them get stuck up they'll be the first to scream 'Oh God' 'Oh Jesus'

GTFOH

:childplease:

what men? there are great men and there are pieces of shyt, both have 'faith'.

gimme one reason why anyones faith deserves my respect

look at North Korea. Kim Jong Il (sp) is who they worship. Every facet of human beings worship something whether it is p*ssy, money, themselves etc.

You deserve to give these people respect for them being good men not their faith, but you cant disrespect them because they have faith in whatever religion.

So when an atheist goes blabbing his mouth about his views no one asked for just no you are disrespecting people present and past, so leave that shyt alone ... you dont care for God/Gods cool but know you cant go around shytting on people because they happen to carry their lives with faith.

Thread starter was demolished, I doubt he returns. There is evidence on both sides, atheists and theists can do very evil things.

Hitler wasn't a damn Roman Catholic. :rudy: If you want to bring his youth into it then there are tons of prominent Atheists who are technically Christian.

And the head of the SS was a fervent anti Christian. It was frowned upon for SS men to be part of the church. Didn't even want them to have Christian marriages. Also prominent Nazi Alfred Rosenberg was an Atheist.

Let's not even get on Josef Stalin.

Very stupid post by OP. Atheists want what any sane religious person wants, a society governed by laws based on reason, not 4 thousand year old books. You can base your own morality on your own belief and that is the true mark of a faithful person. When you start enforcing religious laws, in my view you cheapen the faith and strengthen the religion, which is what you have in places like Saudi Arabia and Iran.

You're reaching with the Nazi's being "fervent anti-Christian" ... That's a view that is not well respected by historians.

Not just Saudi Arabia or Iran, though.

Don't forget Jim Jones and a whole bunch of other hypocrites you'll find behind those church walls.

I'm not Atheist at all and never will be, but I strongly oppose anyone who infringe on other people's rights in the name of religion. History as shown there is too much potential for abuse. Those Jesus freaks or Islamic fundamentalist scare me.

I mean...is this aimed at someone in this thread in particular? Who said Hitler was a Roman Catholic? Who said Himmler was pro-Christian? Do you enjoy debating arguments no one actual made...? :comeon:

The argument made was that the deeply embedded Protestant and Catholic ethics of paternalism and discipline in German society allowed for the popularity and moral justification for Nazi Germany - debate that, rather then just making up your irrelevant shyt.

:wtf:

before his ascension to power, Hitler stated before a crowd in Munich: "My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross. As a Christian, I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice."[13]

I mean, where exactly do people think the rampant anti-Semitism of Nazi Germany came from...?
