Got a full ride for academics to ECU. Was an invited walkon. The assistant coach knew i could play b/c he coached against me in high school. All area first team guard. The head coach, Bill Herrion, had never seen me play and didn't give a single fukk about me.

Went to his office right before the tryouts and he was like, "Coach Stackhouse thinks highly of u. Says u can play a little bit. And I wanted to talk to u to let u know that we want u on the team." At this point Im like :ooh:

Then he says "But everybody has different roles." At this point Im like :ehh: b/c I was just tryna come in there and do nuthing but practice hard. No expectation of playing time. Im just hyped cause Im bout to get my name on the back of a jersey.

Then this fool hit me with the :skip: "Some players score points, some players help us on the boards.........and SOME players help us in the classroom." :ohhh: I knew what it was then. That fool wanted me for my GPA. Or to be some team tutor or sum sh!t. :sadcam: And I was nicer than the pg they brought in the same year.

Hindsight I shoulda still played and showed him I could hoop, but those practices woulda been tuff and to know u r not even gonna play. Just got my law license tho, so I made the right choice.

Same shyt happened to me...I was short in highschool until my junior year. From my soph year to my senior year, I went from 5'6 to 6'2. Everybody in school was :gladbron: when they seen the growth spurt

I mean I'm not trying to hate or anything but let's be serious how many people in this thread really really had a shot at the pros...its unlikely you would stop something that you had pro potential for or let alone coaches wouldnt have let you stop

Parents who believe an education is better than making euros or pounds, driving aston martins, benz, ferarris, big chains, big mansion, high end escorts, and ending like A.I.:stopitslime:

The I in Team
Man I lacked the confidence and thought I sucked. My parents were never the involved type so I didn't have much opportunity as a kid to do the pee wee league or pop Warner shyt. I was really into basketball in high school, but I never had the true discipline to do more than some intramural shyt.

What sucks is between my sophomore and junior year I spent every morning the whole summer working on my jumpshot and layup drills. I tape recorded a bunch of games that featured my favorite Knick Hubert Davis and tried to pattern my shot after him. I even bought this arm strap that was supposed to help with my form. By the time the school year came around and I was doing intramurals and weekly pickups at the YMCA, dudes was like, "damn you got a little game, you should try out for the school team". I just lacked the confidence, because most of those dudes on the team been playing organized since they was little kids. I never thought I was good enough. I wish I did try out tho because amongst my peers I held my own. By the time weed and p*ssy stepped in the picture that dream stayed a dream :manny:

I probably would have been close to a shut down corner in the NFL had I stuck with it. I watch these nikkas in the NFL and I wonder wtf they are doing more than half the time. I was a sophomore starting on varsity and by the 3rd game passes were no longer thrown my way. shyt was a breeze, but that made the game mad boring and I decided I would rather go home everyday and fukk around instead of staying for practice. If not having a father figure in my life hurt me in anyway it hurt me right there.

The hardest positions to play are 1A Quarterback 1B Cornerback (I'd say it's corner because of all the fukking rules stacked up against them) but I swear some of these cornerbacks do some things that have me staring at the TV like :mindblown:

Left-handed pitcher playing baseball, had parents that sent me to every camp to improve. I was accurate, threw high-70s (but was still growing), had a nasty curve and the best pickoff move in the area.. and ultimately, by senior year of high school, I didn't really enjoy playing anymore. Hate myself for it, I half-as5ed it the whole year but I'd kill to go back and replay that senior season :snoop:

Not saying that I had any chance at the pros, moreso I just regret being ungrateful for the opportunities I was given.
