Change is going to come. Things will get so extreme that Democrats will have no choice but to change strategy. There will be mass civil disobedience and protests. We're already seeing the beginnings of it. Resistance takes time to build. This sounds like wishful thinking but I think its just the natural progression of things. Its going to be ugly, destabilizing and terrifying. There will come a time when everything feels like its spiraling out of control. The only question is if the resistance will be effective. I knew this would always be the outcome if Trump won.

I think this country will have to come to stand still if we want to overcome authoritarianism. There will have to be mass boycotts, mass displays of civil disobedience, strikes etc. It will have to be similar to the Egypt revolution where millions of people went out into the streets and essentially shut the entire country down until the regime stepped down. Trump will put tanks into the streets. He will deputize his militias, law enforcement, and military to round up thousands and put them in jail without due process. Americans are going to have to toughen up. The illusion of American exceptionalism that so many have will be shattered.
