alot of real talk right there about those early jay albums.

LOL. somebody upload the video where irv explained why dmx was always bitter at jay. that battle where jay pulled a grandstand move and ran off before X could get in his ass.

lol. jay is a real unlikeable guy.

The top 3 biggest rappers at the time joining forces was insanity I wish they would of put their egos aside and make things work :mjcry:

ehh.

edit: by the time jarule got became a top mainstream start, that trifecta was pretty much dead already.

Missed this thread from before, but EVERYTHING Irv said was the truth and he didn't need to say anything good about DMX seeing as X went at him and Ja
But u know how that shyt goes. Jay is way up and x is way down, he won't say anything bad bout X cause it's nothing to gain from it

Back to the topic, X was so far from being jay competition when jay took over def jam that it ain't funny. X was washed beyond repair and his crackhead ways took over. They released him and let him take his music wit him and he put it out and it was trash

If he was so hot during that time wouldn't there have been a bidding war on who was going to sign x. Nobody even cared bout that last album

Jay Z would ask Irv if he thought X was better than him
Def Jam would laugh at X for barking saying he won't sell
Gotti told JayZ that X represented the people, him... NOT SO MUCH

Music Video Reference, DMX "Get At Me Dog"

Major tension behind the hit factory photo

TL;DR: Jay's a dikkriding fakkit that loves the attention.

No matter what anyone says...even tho Jay became Jay in 98...98 belonged to X

It's Dark & Hell Is Hot >>> Hard Knock Life

'99 too.

dmx was retired or "retired" when jay took over def jam breh.

grand champ was his last real album, and def jam low-balled it, even tho it was poppin.

this chit is bigger than rap. its all smoke-n-mirrors.

Jay seems to be the only one that wanted to grow as a person and distance himself, others wanted to keep it real/street. Can't hate either, because they all had a chance to do different things with their lives but chose their own path. All this stuff is just old and lame now.

Ain't all this shyt irrelevant tho? Everyone knows there wasn't no competition in recent years ..

Considering X first album was what .. 98 .. I think we can forgive the fact his last album and a couple before it was trash :manny:

But this thread is pretty much about X saying jay wanted to kill the competition by destroying X and killing his career when he took over def jam. That's not true tho, cause the 2 were on 2 totally different levels at that point. X had already ruined hisself

its not about "growing as a person" or "distancing himself from the street".

he was still "street" during & after all of this. all of irv's stories posted in this thread are from the '90s breh. and theyre based around music.

i dont know why people dont acknowledge the fact that jay-z is a user. every story about him ends up the same way.

again. dmx was in retirement. what levels are you talking about?

this was his 'coming out of retirement album' and it got sabotaged just like his previous one.

jay didnt look out like he was supposed to.
