I personally feel like those people don’t have the best interest in mind for black people

This wouldn't be a good debate cause it will be about "policy" in a round-about way.
"They are not for black people" with no specifics mentioned. I have seen DL quote laws and initatives (Umar as well) but this wouldn't be productive.
Blanket statements are bad. "Democrats are not for black people" ignores the people in the party trying to do right and bundles their efforts with those who don't care. I may be disappointed with national Dems but very pleased at my city council, my treasurer, and Mayor, etc. These conversations turn into a buncha nothing. If they aren't quoting bills, shyt that unfortunately the majority of people don't care to look at (see the California CalHFA Dreams for ALL threads), then its just emotions.
To this day we hear people talk about what other people get, including the "Asian hate crime bill", but the same people bringing them up don't know the text or that they are temporary and given the very same bills for us, they would call them symbolic.
Everyone is allowed to have an opinion but unfortunately no one is tasked with making sure it is an informed opinion.

I think there's a very good chance Umar gets cooked. I think DL is just a better speaker than Umar. The idea that either of these two bufoons might be considered legitimate spokespeople for the black community is disheartening.

I question whether such a thing ever existed, but I know in 2024 it definitely does not exist. Questioning the Dems paternalistic treatment of Black america is not enough justification to completely overlook the outright hostility provided by the Republcians.Though I wouldn’t mind a black republican that’s not a complete c00n might be rare to find though

Mention certain loan programs, education initiatives, some criminal justice reforms, etc.
Detractors basically ask if the whole of black people went from one strata of society to another. If the answer is no, nothing was done. No reparations? Nothing you have done is worthy of attention.
Conversations seemingly start and end with if the efforts of a few politicians whole-cloth transformed the black condition. Incrementalism is a sin to those folks when it goes right for us and is wholly ignored when it goes against us (See DEI, Affirmative action, and what abortion bans will do to African American women's maternal mortality which was already the lowest of the low.)
