Ehhhh.

Quik is one of the greats.

But knock it off with that California shyt.

Everybody knows the Ronnie Hudson joint.

Not many know the remix though.

Quik mighta been humming that shyt at the mic check. But we going to act like poplock wasn't no1 on the rnb charts back in the day? So big that they went back and the east coast version?

At one stage he had a studio at the Disney lot, or attached to it.

He had his own personal power source, as in, he was worried about dirty power and what it does to the recording, so he installed special power.

This is the type of motherfukker he is.

There's a reason All Eyez On Me sounds the way it does. David Blake mixed and engineered that shyt.
Quick snapped so hard mixing with one of the SSL boards that the maker was going to him for expertise out the whole industry.

I wonder why they don't give him his credit on a lot of songs.

At one point he was ducking credits, producing for other people while he was beefing with his label. So he went AWOL as an artist and started doing a lot of work behind the scene. I think this is directly after balance and options.

He said he was humming it....
So it's not like he stole the concept.

Sure.

But Quik acting like 'West coast poplock' wasn't a west coast anthem already. It was.

Inferring you humming it is the reason that the Pac version came to fruition is like saying you said a line from a Terminator film, which in turn gave the producers the idea to make a sequel.

I’m an hour and a half in and, although I am a HUGE Quik fan and was literally raised on his music, this nikka be lying A LOT. I’m not even half way thru the interview and he told two huge lies that immediately jumped out at me that he should have caught immediately if I did. First one, he said him and Kurupt were playing PlayStation 2 when 2pac walked in and surprised him after getting released from prison :duck: Like nikka what?! :what: PS1 wasn’t even out in 1995 when 2pac was released. PS2 didn’t come out until 2001 or so. Secondly, he said he was depressed while recording Balance & Options because Mausberg had died. One problem. Balance & Options was released May/2000 and Mausberg died 2 months AFTER the album was released, so how were you depressed during the recording of the album when he didn’t pass until after it was released :snoop: Quik is one of them nikkas who lie just to lie. I’m gonna finish the interview and, again, I’m a big fan. I done heard every single track he’s produced or layed vocals to, even the obscure stuff. But Quik is a certifiable weirdo…

I don't think either of those are lies, dude is 54 years old and been smoking/drinking his whole life. His memory is probably shot.

Especially the PS2 thing. Obviously he meant the PS1. And yeah, it was out September 1995. Pac was released from jail in October 1995. So it would've been out around a month before Pac got there.

Quik is an alien. A straight up Savant you can tell when he's sober he can probably cite who did what on any album all the way down what version of SSL board was used. I like shyt like that, just nerd out on facts and random knowledge on music. Good interview until they got too drunk and high. Problem talks too much though would've been better with just Quik by himself.

I think he meant he was depressed on Under tha influence (it makes more sense given the content in his music like “50 ways”.

He just has a bad memory because he also said Cube was on 2pac’s first album which is obviously not true.
