He's free to have any opinion on music he wants to have but come on..

"He's a Kardashian.."

"What he gon do, beat me up?"

If you can't spot the agenda and bitterness in his tone, it's because you don't want to

musically neither album is TRASH

TLOP could have been better lyrically and Kanye slacked even w/ this style he has carried the past two albums....Yeezus lyrics fit the music...TLOP lacked that

STILL it is a dope album sonically

You can never deny the way Ye puts sounds and effects together....at worst I can listen to TLOP like I'm listening to electronic music or some shyt. Easy to vibe to

I do want ye to deliver that old classic stuff but I understand he's not at that point in his life anymore...even though he teases it here and there

Who gives a shyt breh its ass lyrically.

You need substance sometimes.

Its like those effects driven blockbusters. Sure they look good but theyre bullshyt

from time to time I'll listen to electronic music so I can appreciate music for what it is. If it sounds good it sounds good. I also never went into TLOP expecting some classic hip hop shyt. :russ: yall nikkas played ya self

I never said anything about hip hop. I just wanted a good album regardless of genre.

Not some unfocused, rushed clearly unfinished product that is still being changed/updated/tinkered with til this day

The premise isn't irrelevant if you're generally speaking about acclaim and opportunities that he should be getting more than less deserving rappers/producers.

This aforementioned "premise" is also "irrelevant" because it's simply an assumption based on my assessment & not a fact.

DJ Quik is a icon in Hip Hop & I'm a definitely 100% a fan but homie was straight hating on Kanye. It's fine for Quik to express his dislike of TLOP, but all the extras with the insults was unnecessary.

Justifiably, I think Quik is angry & feels that he should be getting more acclaim & opportunities for his music/talents than some of the less deserving rappers/producers (past & present) who became more popular or famous.

Quik is reiterating issues that regular individuals have with Kanye and his music. It's his opinion, but it's an opinion that's shared with people who view Kanye and his music in the same light.

Again, I already mentioned I have no problems with Quik discussing his dislike of Kayne's process of making music or his opinion of TLOP. But Quik overstepped his bounds with his petty personal insults about Kayne & his wife along with mentioning Kanye's celebrity playing a part in his TLOP's acclaim, which went beyond strictly addressing Kayne's music specifically & that leads me to believe he's somewhat salty about Kanye's overwhelming success & fame.

I remember when Quincy Jones went in on Kanye a few years ago and his critique of Kanye's music was a little harsher. He reduced Kanye to being just a rapper and completely dismissed him as a producer.

Quincy Jones remarks were based on an Us magazine article that was attempting to make similar comparison between both himself & Kanye West, which isn't even close to the same situation based on Quik's own comments in regards to Kanye.

"Quincy Jones won't be sending Kanye West a Christmas card. One of the hottest producers of the 20th century has spoken out against the hottest producer of, er, late 2010, dismissing West as "just a rapper". "We come from two different sides of the planet," Jones said. "There's no comparison."

Jones has arranged, written for and produced artists including Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Donna Summer and Sarah Vaughan. He has won 27 Grammy awards. Oh yes, and he produced a little album called Thriller. As for Kanye West? His Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is the highest-rated album of the year so far. But when Us magazine mentioned to Jones that people were comparing him to West, the 77-year-old launched into a furious rant.

"How, man?" he said. "No way. Did [Kanye] write for a symphony orchestra? Does he write for a jazz orchestra? Come on, man ... I'm not putting him down or making a judgment or anything, but we come from two different sides of the planet. I spent 28 years learning my first skill. I don't rap. It's not the same thing. A producer has to have some sort of skills that enable him to be a producer. It's a whole different mindset. No comparison. None."
