little know fact that i've never seen on the internet but jeru ya playin yaself was a response to Junior Mafia's - Player Anthem. From Jeru and Preem. They took the whole concept and flipped it and Preem took the same sample and flipped in crazy in response to what people considering to be lazy looping at the time from the Puffy style producers.

I cant think of one single Pete Rock remix that I liked better than the original ........the closest was Fades Em All but still I like Redmans beat better.

Oh and I liked Jeru better than Biggie back then too......I appreciate Big now that hes gone sadly but back then Juicy was a channel changer. :camby:

Shut em down makes the original nonexistent, damn near and rhe original was cold.
That is how next level those remixes were.

Jeru's first two albums were damn near flawless.

Huge fan of his back in the day. Dude's voice and diction meshed perfectly with Preme's beats back then. He didn't sound like anybody else, and I always felt like Primo gave him a lot of his best shyt at the time. I wanted more albums from them together, they had dope chemistry.

Didn't realise it was the same sample. Also he didn't mention bad boy, he always seemed direct to me

Jeru was the guy who kept it really real culturally.
Wish another guy like him would come out to get rid of this second coming of diggety based rap.

I hate diggety rap.....

Jeru has a really dope voice. 1 of my all time favorites.
Thought people used to say he was a great lyricist though.

The sun rises in the East :wow: is a dope album. I like Jeru over Big a bit.

Breh that black prophet song blew my mind away. How a kat could make a song battling ignorance.....wow.

Then that crooklyn dodgers where Jeru kicked this verse.

Now it's Desert Eagles, government issue
Probably the same one that killed Noriega
Chips that powered nuclear bombs, power my Sega
Subliminal hypnotism and colonialism
Leaves most %$#@& dead or in prison
In Crook-land, right hand cuts off the left hand
To spite the hand, jealous of the next man.

Winter late 93 going into Summer 94, it was all about Buckshot, Jeru, and Nas. And this wasn't just a mere underground thing. This what n1ggas in the streets were bumpin out of every whip or stereo

Breh even southern kats were bumping Jeru Come Clean cause the bass was hitting so hard on that shyt.

its funny lord alot of rappers that came out i couldnt stand. However now since ive matured, i fool with them heavy like Jeru. Redman is another was originally just use to get irk hearing his verses. Now he is up there as a fav or mine due to his metaphors.
