Jeru was an average lyricist at best...he was completely carried to stardom by Preemo's beats. Without preemo, Jeru wouldnt have sold five records. I think he ultimately was jealous of Big...his skills, and stature within the industry. Jeru just comes across as a salty fukkboi.

That Big line ended up being prophetic, considering that Jeru ended up turning against Preemo --- the man he owed pretty much all his success to. This whole song was about Preemo:

I disagree, Jeru was a dope rapper. He wasn't the greatest lyricist but he was still good and dropped quality work after leaving Premier. You acting like he's Group Home. Jeru was nice.

Of course....lol. I wouldnt speak on him like that unless Ive listened to his work. Again, he was completely carried by Preemo.

I will say this: Jeru's subject matter was above average. He tackled a lot of socio-economic issues, and metaphysical topics. He was fairly thoughtful. But his qualitative skills as an mc like wordplay, cadences and delivery, dexterity and flow....all basic for the most part even at his peak, and he only got worse with age. It it a coincidence that he completely fell off the map, w/o Godly preemo beats arresting everyone's ear?
